I am somehow glad I got rid of mine when reading and hearing stories like these. Time to move to Montana if you want to mod your car

Just got the ticket 2 days ago. I'm just gonna go find a stock catback/dp and go to the ref. Let me know how yours case goes.

Anything out in the open in your car cops can search, or can call you on anything they see, like an exhaust (that's why a stealth set-up on a car is best, hard to detect via visual inspection).
A few years ago, the Supreme Court passed a law which allows officers to search cars without a warrant. This law has made profiling by officers skyrocket. IIRC, if you refuse to cooperate with opening the hood or something similar, the officer does have the power to impound the car as evidence of driving an illegal car. IMHO, I'd rather have a cop look at my car and then give me a ticket to see the state ref, then get my car impounded and not get a chance to take everything off first.

all I gotta say is from what my gf tells me, since I wasn't there when it happened. The last person who questioned the cop was handcuffed and arrested. So Believe me if you opened your mouth you would of probably been sent to jail. Since cops have the power to hold you in jail even for a couple of hours even when they don't have anything on you. The cops are the "law"

Any modification for the purpose of increasing noise is, but replacing a "damaged" expensive OEM muffler with a cheaper aftermarket replacement that happens to be louder, is not, so long as it conforms to the noise laws.

My stock one was damaged, that's my story, and I'm sticking to to

That sounds like a great idea, I think im going to put my stock dp back on and get a silencer. Then take it to the ref, any one think ill pass for under 95dbA w/an hks carbon ti/stock dp? If I do pass I should be able to keep my exhaust on

well why don't you just put back your stock tbe when you go the state ref? Thats what i'm doing. Saves you from being scared of failing. Then after the state ref you can put back your hks exhaust.

I had to do a report on this a while ago, let me see if I can pull up some of the stuff.

http://www.libertarianrock.com/topic...eme_court.html

If you search on google for something about 1996 supreme court decision allows police to search cars or something you'll find more.

Man you guys are still trippin about fix it tickets? Just sign them off yourselves. I've been doing that since I was like 17yrs old. The court doesn't even verify with the actual "officer". Then pay $10, and you're done.

Nice, from a misdemeanor traffic violation to a felony, real smooth.
