Giants never made an offer to Heyward so he was never going to come here. Giants are "interested" in Justin Upton though.

Looks like Giants might have signed Cueto pending physical. 6-year $130 million with opt-out option after 2017......Not sure how much I like the opt-out clause though.

Giants, Johnny Cueto reportedly agree to 6-year, $130 million deal - SBNation.com

Looks good to me. Opt-out doesn't bother me too much. I'll take two years of Cueto throwing darts thank you very much.

I first thought the Giants were just bidding on him to push the price up for the Dodgers, but I guess I was wrong. The 2 year opt out sounds like Cueto's just chasing rings. If he sucks, we're stuck with him for 6 years. If he's good, he'll probably bolt (unless the Giants give him a raise in the $25+ million/year after the 2 years). Let's just hope he's not another Matt Cain in the making after the elbow issues.

AGREED!!!!

A nice two-year contract for him--Win and you can walk...though too bad we had to sweeten it with a pillow landing if he doesn't perform. 6 years is a long time if he's ineffective (read Zito) or unhealthy (read: Cain, as already mentioned).

............aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I have to believe we're out on any big name OF. Tomlinson in LF! who knows what will happen?!

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, happens in LF. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but it'll be an interesting year no matter what now that the starting rotation is settled. Happy to see the front office making moves in that regard.
