I don't mind this trade. A's are the favorites this season to win the World Series. Cespedes would've never re-signed and I believe he is a free agent after next season (Don't quote me on this but there's a clause in his contract that lets him opt out early). He would've wanted max money and A's won't pay that.

Obviously no guarantee Lester will re-sign after the season, or if the A's will re-sign him, but I look at it like trading a rental for another rental.

At the very least, Beane's making exciting splash moves, while Sabean and the Giants make dud moves.
