Sad accident, and a guy like Jules had more driving talent than anybody here could dream of but still couldn't prevent it....the speed he hit that tractor was lunacy
Lunacy because he failed to get the scope of how bad the conditions were. Nearly everyone else was able to drive by just fine.

well I guess we know the real rea$on Vettel went to Ferrari. If you're not going to win, you might as well get paid the most while doing it.

That's really not that much better. Good for Alonso he's retired or had car trouble way less.

****ing awesome!

So Ferrari hasn't learned anything...

They paid Schumacher 60/60/80/100 in his final 4 years. They paid Kimi 50/year. They paid Alonso, I think, 38/year.

Good for Vettel. I won't ever knock someone who takes a big contract that's offered to them.

yeah I had a feeling he was doing it for a bigger paycheck right from the start, Ferrari absolutely has a bad habit of overpaying drivers. I cant blame him either, if hes not going to win another title at redbull any time soon, he might as well go somewhere for a fat paycheck.

He's a father now... he's going to think about stuff like this. I can't knock him at all.

If he had no titles, then I'd question his drive. But, he's got 4, so why not make some $?

Maybe in 2016 or 2017 he could have a good car, who knows?

He finished one time above alonzo (Belgium) and twice 1 spot behind him.
Otherwise its been 3 or more spots.
Alonzos best finish was 3rd and Kimi 4th.

I agree. It is at no fault of the driver to sign these contracts. TAKE THE MONEY!!!!! you would have to be an idiot not to take $80 MILLION for one year.

I think it would have been Bianchi/Vettel had the accident not happened, but would Alonso be willing to be teammates with Vettel?

I wouldn't be surprise that Vettel's contract says that Alonso can not be his teammate.

Good for Vettel. Who wouldn't go to Ferrari for that amount of money when you're not in a winning car?

It probably does. Even if it doesn't, I don't see Alonso agreeing to be teammates.

Nor would I be surprise that in Alonso's contract it says he will be #1 driver. Vettel probably asked for the same, so they will have a problem now.

It will be interesting to see how the McLaren/Honda package does next season..they could run away with it if Alonso is the pilot
