If theres people coming from out of the area... what about driving out west on river rd? Stop at Korbel, stop at the redwood forests, drive north along the coast and then cut back in through the back roads of Healdsburg. You get to show them the wineries, redwoods, and the coast... most of what our area has to offer on one drive.

Ya, there is always the Avenue of the Giants, or highway 36
I would love to "cruise" through the one lane (entire road that is) with 15+ subies. From there out Van Duzen road to Zenia, and eventually Garberville. Ya know, through dope growing country lol.

Wine Country is really nice...not my area of expertese tho. And I know that Mr. Hox knows the Ukiah area well....it has some wicked roads too.

The Berryessa Route isnt a bad idea, but depends on which area, cause there are some bad spots up there from the Flood last year, lots of potholes and rocks and stuff....... Not really Ideal for lowered cars...... Im down for whatever way we go, I just wanna drive.

BTW my friend with an 06 EVO 9 is comming with me, he will be driving, just comming along to promote the shop we started.....

I am leaving the drive planning to others, as I am going to attempt to handle the afterwards food and beer at Bear, but I have one bit of advice. Try to find a happy meduim in lenght of drive. I mean I don't like short drives myself, but I do believe we will have wider attendence if it isn't absurdly long. Furthermore I suggest we get moving on deciding the course and planning when and where the starting meetingpoint.
Now on a more serious note to everyone, this is a _drive_ not a race. I lost a friend to a drive near SLO back in the oldschool nasioc days. Have fun, enjoy the road, be safe.

Now I will return to harassing other norcal iclub locals to make certain they sign up for this.

I'd like to echo that sentiment... please check your egos at the door (or the starting point, for that matter). Roo and I usually like doing the sweep duty, but on a few instances in the past we've had to tow people out of sheep pastures and provide a ride home for the unfortunate driver/passenger. Have fun, but please be safe.

I agree with STi-FTW. I would love going on the kingridge rd drive but it would be about 5 hours or more start to finnish. that is with photo stops and lunch.
It may be a good idea to do the trinity pass rought and for those who want a little more langth we could add in bennet valley to sonoma mountain to glen ellen to trinity.
doing somthing like this would go with the comments of "Frestalls" winerys and redwoods minus the ocean.
or we could do the ride we did last week.
should we get a poll going for the different routs?

OK Guys we have a good gang as of now and you are right we need to get a plan together for the drive...

Not sure how we go about picking the route but lets put it this way keep it a nice medium drive with plenty of twisties but not too many we don't want to loose ProjektSti miata friend ha ha only joking!!

The thing to not worry about the route is we can pick one for this month and next month we can do another route so lets not worry too much cause theres always the next meet, it would be cool to keep this meet going monthly..

So we could start another thread with the different routes and have a poll, that might be the best option and lets have the route planned by next week..

But again anybody else that wants to come keep the names coming it will be a good day. All the meets to now have been fun, we go for a drive and not a race so lets keep it that way...

Hey if we get this thing going we can do a track day or something huge in the summer there are plenty of options..

Can't stress this enough. Don't be an idiot out on the drive and try to prove anything. We are here to have fun and enjoy the drive, but PLEASE don't drive at the limit on our route. Yes, we will more than likely have our times of spirited driving, but these are public roads, not a race track. Keep that in mind...

PS - Brian, add 455h013 to the list!

That I do! I've got a map of Mendocino County with close to 80% of the roads documented/travelled. Maybe for the next meet in Feb, you guy's could take a jaunt up to Mendocino County for a fun little trip out to the coast. Maybe 128 to Anderson Valley, or something.... I also know of a few logging roads that go un-traveled.

I think for this route, we should maybe do Route 2 that I posted about earlier. It's still on the twisty side, but not is "involved" as going through King's Ridge. Also, doubt it would be too safe for such a huge group to travel on a one-lane road. Maybe save that one for a smaller meet...

"Possible Route 2 = Hwy 12 East, towards Bennet Valley Road. Take Bennet Valley Road till it cuts into Warm Springs Road. Head north on Hwy 12 from Warm Springs, towards Trinity Road. This continues on to Dry Creek Road, then take a left onto Oakville Grade Road. This lets out onto St Helena Hwy (128/29). Take Silverado Trail (parallels 128, but a LOT less boring) towards Calistoga. Then, just take Hwy 128 towards Lytton Springs, then south on Hwy 101 to Healdsburg."

The beauty of this route, is that if we wanted to keep it short and simple, we could just take 128 after Trinity Pass. Still get a good taste of the twisty's, and not overwhelming. But if we wanted a larger serving of twisties, we could head out to Silverado Trail and Berryessa.

What's everyone think of that plan?
