new wrx needs new winter tires, any suggestion

Hi all, just got my new 2011 wrx and said good by to my 05. I live in Bay Area and go up to Tahoe about every other weekend in the winter, so I need snow or all season tires to put on the stock rims for the winter. I would like to find a tire under 150 bucks that can make it though the chain check points and wont totally suck (loud and bad MPG). I had a set of bliztechs on my 05 all winter but they where very loud and maybe a bit to snow aggressive.
So should I go with some all seasons or some less aggressive snow tires. I was thinking these:

any thoughts....

I did however get a chance to own the Bridgstone RE960AS tires and they were amazing up there even, when playing on some snow/ice. Great traction in the wet, even better in the dry, Very good wear if kept up on the rotations.

Haven't taken these up to the snow yet, but I was pretty happy with my last set of Conti's

The DWS's are really quiet. Just put a set on my wife's Legacy and it's a world of difference from the stock tire. So much quieter, you can hear yourself think. Haven't taken it to the snow yet, but I smashed through a couple deep puddles last night and it was doing really well.

Got a set of General Tire Altimax Arctic tires mounted on steelies last week from tirerack. Took it up to tahoe but it was warm and dry everywhere last sunday so haven't had a chance to try it on snow/ice. Its rated well, has good reviews, and was only $86/tire (205/55/16)

i had a set of kuhmo asx, they were decent tires, got lotta miles out of them with very little wear, as far as noise, i dont remember because my exhaust is too loud

i'm gonna chime in with the continental extreme contacts... great tires. just got myself a set a couple months ago. not a whole lot of dry traction but the main use is for the snow and rain anyways

I would go with the contiextremes, which i think are the dws now, but still the same tire. I use them all year except at the track.

i believe the blizzaks are winter only, the conti extremes are all weather, although the tire wall is a bit softer than i'd like. they are comfortable though and def more quite then alot of other tires i have had
