Suggestion for anyone who needs a place/tools to work on their SUBIE

Hey guys,

This is for all you people who like to work on your cars but do not have the necessary space or tools to do so.

I was on craigslist and found this place in Fremont, CA where this guy has a garage where he lends out tools by the hour. He also has 2 lifts that you can rent per hour and it comes with tools. So no more risking your life working under a jack stand or scissor jack..

Rates are pretty cheap at only $20/hr for tool rental, and $30/hr for TOOLS+LIFT.

Its a pretty neat concept. Check out their site, google liftedworkshop.

I'm making this to inform the bay area i-club community of something that I think would be helpful, since I know a lot of people here live in apartment communities or other places where they do not have access to a place to work on their cars. I am not affiliated with them in any way nor am I trying to advertise anything.

BTW: New customers get 30 minutes free. I'm planning to pay $30 for an hour and get 30 mins free to swap out my exhaust and do an oil change or something. $30 for 1.5 hours for a lift/tools

If youre ever in that circumstance again throw your wheel under the car with you so you aren't completely squished. Its one of the several things I do when I lift a car up to prevent accidents, chalk the wheels, stands, jack, and finally a wheel.

Nice. Do you know if they charge extra for fluid disposal?

Hey guys im not sure about the fluid thing. I think they are just a garage... You bring your stuff there and leave with the same stuff lol I dont think they have any recycling facilities.

$30/hr may seem a bit expensive to some people but when you have a lift and all the tools you need, working on your car doesn't take that long

@Zombie good thing you only did it once.. If your car is only under a scissor jack and you try to unbolt a stuck bolt and use lots of force, the car will move and the possibilities of the jack failing is high.. I read about people getting injured and dying from working under a scissor jack or only 1 jack stand and its scary

@mooshoo i dont know I haven't been there yet just google their name

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER work under a scissor jack or a jack (with no stands). as i was lifting the scoob with the scissor jack, it completely snapped in half.....i am SOOO lucky i was not under there. i would have been dead for sure. No wheels and a lowered car...ya.

People take this hsit lightly when they shouldnt. I always leave my car on 2 or more stands with the wheels removed and placed under car behind jack stand. "ya...but my wheels will get damaged" well you idiot, would you like a damaged wheel or permanently damaged head!?

This place is legit. Im sure there is paperwork for liability release. but still a great idea to get weekend warrior mechanics on track working on their cars the proper way.

Going Northbound from AutoMall it's on the right at the Truck Repair Weigh Station Facility before BayCountiesDiesel after AllWay's Towing and Allied Waste's Parking lot. Drive into the facility lot and it's towards the side/back.
