It's where the old SpeedRing used to be on Mead st.
K1 Speed is the name. Check it out.

I went there on Saturday as well. It's pretty good, but the track definitely needs more time to get some rubber laid down for better grip.
What time? I was there until about 5pm.
The track is pretty good. The brakes on the karts are VERY SENSITIVE. There isn't any top end on these karts. Of course, you can tell that the workers don't let you have full power of the karts.
I may be interested in going.

this is great... I actually used to be a track manager there for ~3years before we had to close in Feb of '05...
are they gas karts? honda 6.5hp?
i wonder what chassis also.
i'd be interested in seeing what their track design looks like compared to ours, which was awesome, if anyone remembers speedring. we were the first in this area, then le mans came around, then go kart racer...
<edit> i see they are electric karts, and the track looks like it's simply concrete (no bueno). At SpeedRing, we used to put down a proprietary mix of basically glue, paint and sand at specific qty's, which could get our karts about 1.2 or so lateral g's on a couple turns, you obviously just go through tires a bit faster, but they're pretty damn cheap. We had about 1/4mi track with 7 turns, where you could hit about 38-40mph top end speed, at least that's what I would get, and at ~205lbs. and that's actually where my love for subies developed.
some good drivers also came out of speedring, some in honda challenge and i think one is even in speed world challenge. randy hannigan used to come in all the time and even AJ Allmendinger before he blew up.
and I just read that Boris Said is a co-owner... pretty cool

At speedring we also had the "governer" button in the booth so you could automatically slow everyone down in the event of an accident or an asshat.
Sounds like an i-club meet needs to happen at this place...

Hmmmmm....maybe I know you then? I knew Paul and all the guys who started that place up because I worked with them preivously and I was in there all the time. I was the "late night" mechanic doing the kart maintenance nights and weekends to help them out when they got started. I was only there the first year though.

I started July 2001 and left Feb 2005. Paul D? Did you know James and Bobby also? I actually recently heard that Bobby passed...
yeah, it was a control box, which basically would just make the plug misfire, if people were driving dangerously under yellow flag conditions or if they were just driving like asshats and compromising other's safety, and that's after black flags and some discussions. there were transponders on each kart, but not all of them worked.
we even used to turn the track direction around and have races backwards, even with the public! crazy stuff.
one summer, we even had a red bull driver search, for young talent 16 and under. some good young drivers, just obviously too aggressive sometimes.
I have some of the craziest stories ever from there hahaa
