New Fridge making weird noises

My parents just got a brand new side-by-side stainless steel fridge just Friday by Electrolux (Fridgedaire) with the ice-maker and water thing built in.

Ever since we hooked it up, it's been making this weird thrashing noise. Sounds kinda like a machine gun on full auto. Hard to describe. Sound lasts about 5 sec. Comes back every 30 min or so.

We have not yet hooked up the water and ice-maker piping.

Could that be a problem? ("dry fire" vs. wet parts)

I was going to the ice-maker. Since most makes this loud sound when they make ice. try to turn the ice maker off.

It's your ice maker trying to create suction in order to draw in water from the water piping that is not connected.

You can probably turn off the power to the ice maker inside the freezer portion. It's usually very close to the motor.
