I have Comcast with a modem that has 5 lights possible that light up.

The 5th link blinks on and off orange when connected into a router. I still get internet connection, it's been this way as far as I can remember.

I remember taking off the router and connecting the modem straight into my computer. Then the modem's blinking orange light changes to a blinking green light.

Both situations I'm connected, but why does the modem have a blinking orange light through my router? But changes to a blinking green light when bypassing the router?

Is there any way to fix that? Does it even matter if I can still connect to the internet with a blinking orange or a blinking green? (Been this way for over a year with no problems.)

So if I bought a newer router which supports 1gbps, my connections would be faster? As in my router bandwidth sucks ***?

Is it even necessart to get anything over a 300mbps?

If downloads are only at like 50mbps, than what's the point of a 1gbps router vs a 300mbps router if the connection won't hit those limits?

Bought a 300mbps router but comcast was limiting. Was surprised to find 152mbps connection over wireless with a group n.
If u are hardwired, you get better internet speed.

I have uverse almost top tier and its 18mbps.....lol....cant tell the diff between that and 6mbps.....
I only get 52mbps connection speed over wireless.

Most people don't need a gigabit unless you're doing a lot of client to client transfers or have multiple devices 5+ connected to it. I have a few gigabit ones but that's because I run my own home server. It wont change your speed if your ISP limits you to 25Mbit or what ever your speed is

A gigabit router would only be faster if you are transferring large files between your computers or networked storage or media devices etc. So you should be good.
