Help! Trying to go wireless with my cable modem
Alright, so I made the switch from SBC DSL to Comcast cable. Obviously I can get online just fine, but I can't get my wireless to work.
I cloned my Main PC MAC address on my Linksys WRT54GL Wireless Router. Under Basic Setup I have it at "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" and I see all the IP, DNS, etc under Status. All computers including the wireless one gets this fake ip (ie 192.168.2.x) with DNS showing hsd1.ca.comcast.net. But I am not able to connect to the internet with them. Help!
I searched everywhere including Linksys, Comcasst, DSLReports.com, and general google without much help.
What should I have under "Advance Routing"? Gateway or Router? Anything else?

so its set to DHCP.. heres a question.. are you online via a computer that is plugged directly into the router? and cannot connect via the wireless connection?
also try taking a pin and plugging it into that little hole on the backside of the router for about 30 seconds.. then trying to connect. if that doesn't work then try this:
1. Plug your computer directly into the cable modem.
2. Use "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" from the windows command prompt to get a new IP address from the cable modem.
3. Unplug your computer from the cable modem.
4. Plug your computer into the router, leaving the router unplugged from the cable modem.
5. Use ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew to get an IP address from the router.
6. Enter the router's configuration with your web browser.
7. Tell the router to Clone your Mac Address. wait a few seconds.
8. Plug the router into the cable modem.
9. In the web interface, tell the router to ask for a new IP address from the cable modem. (This is the "DHCP Renew" Button) The cable modem should think that you are the PC that just spoke with it and will let your router work again. You might have to ask it to renew a couple times.

neither wire or wireless can be connected to the internet as long as i connect through the router. the router gets the IP and all that stuff just fine and i've clone the MAC address already.
all the DNS info blah blah blah gets to the wire and wireless computers just fine through the router, just can't connect to the internet.

Okay, this is the exact sequence I did to make it work...
1. Turn off all devices (computers, router, modem)
2. Unplug the cable between router and modem
3. Power on the PC that is connected to the router (hardwire)
4. Power on the router with the reset button pressed (reset the router back to factory settings).
5. Make sure the router is DHCP enabled, clone PC MAC address, set router password (optional), set wireless SSID (optional).
6. Go to router Status and Renew (should see nothing)
7. Connect cable between router and modem
8. Power on modem with reset button pressed
9. Back to router and click Renew under Status
10. Once obtain IP, DNS, etc
11. Back to PC and either restart or do ipconfig /release then /renew
12. Power up wireless computer, confirm it's working.

the sequence of reset seems to matter... see my steps above to finally get it to work. I've done reset on modem only and didn't help.

i read some where in the dslreports.com where some of the ISP would track the MAC addresses and give 1 IP to start off with and I think in Comcast's case, max of 5. Once I clone it, the cable modem would think my router is the PC and then my router can manage the DHCP.
