Need some advice

My wife and I are considering trading in her '08 Legacy and getting a '12 Forester. Since it's a Subaru trade in, Subaru has their Trade Up program. We are already over their stated mileage but everything else is on par. Except we have a cracked windshield. A fairly significant crack as well, has spidered out in 4 directions.

Should we replace the windshield or just take it to the dealership as is?

We owe about $7000 on it and I know the KBB trade in value is a little over estimate at 11,000. But I don't want them trying to take some value out cause of the windshield when I could have it replaced, with heater element for $195.

I would say replace it. You leave an opening for them to shaft you if you drive in with a cracked windshield.

Yeah dude... I'd just replace it. That gives them one less reason to deny you.

Somewhat on topic, but anyone notice that 2012 Forester XTs are almost impossible to find? Looking for one for my wife as well.

Yea, looking at a touring one. It'll have a similar interior to the legacy and have factory hids.

They are a lot harder to find that any others and the touring base or xt are just as hard. Capitol will be having an XT touring arriving soon according to their website.

Take it to a place and get a replacement. I paid 180 otd for an aftermarkrt one with the heated windshield. Don't pay the 400-600 that other places want for factory replacement. I don't think they'll look at the glass manufacturer. Mine has been good for over a year now with that non Subaru glass. Defrosts and everything still

Yeah they didn't really offer that option. It was basically.. base. limited.

And I didn't want a lot of the crap you have to overpay for on the limited. But I wouldn't mind a touring. The only thing I wanted that we didn't get was the sun roof.

The XT is really hard to track down. Capitol had a used black one and a new white one when we got ours. Really nice. But WAY expensive for what you get and the NA model is fine. Better gas mileage. Regular gas. Less insurance and it has plenty of get up for the ladies and to tell you the truth, I don't mind driving it. It is what it is.

If it was for me I'd get an 08 XTS. LOL!

I said the same thing to myself. the touring has a different instrument cluster, dual zone climate control, hids, a subwoofer, and Chrome roof rails. Just looks a little nicer.

If you have AAA you get one for the cost of your deductible once a year. I paid $50 for a $500 windshield.
