or head straight over to mission, and then go north. Take foothill farther north to castro valley blvd(make a right), left on crow canyon.

I do occasionally take crow canyon. I have even taken Redwood Rd to Pinehurst and come out in Moraga. Its longer but a fun drive.
The traffic is only really bad in the winter. During the summer its not usually over an hour.
