Im not sure how much back pressure could really be built up. This is the very last part before it leaves out the exhaust. If there was any need for back pressure, i doubt leaving the silencer could help.

do you still have cats?
stock headers?
If you have ^^ then you should be fine leaving the silencer out.

What size diameter is the hole in the silencer? Looks smaller than 2.5"

I read somewhere that NA should have piping no bigger than 2.5". Something about how the engine actually needs some back pressure to produce power. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
Not true about back pressure increasing torque in NA engines, but going larger than 2.5" for a mildly modified NA engine is probably overkill. There's a point of diminishing returns of cost and weight because NA simply won't move enough air.

I have a stock cat. I am using Borla headers. The diameter of the silencer. It is like an inch. Maybe ince and a half.

I see, but I should be fine right? I don't want to say what I paid, but I was really happy with the price, especially since it was essentially new.
