Need camera heads opinions please
So...let's just cut to the chase. I'm wondering if this is a good deal or not;
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_Camera.html
I'm not sure if this link is still busted, but I put the correct link. IF it's still busted, then it's basically a D40 with the kit len [18-55mm] + a 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX [ NOT VR ]
OH, and it's 581.80 shipped.
Or, should I just get a Nikon D50 with the kit lens; 18-55mm?
Priced at ~500 shipped.
Give me your opinion and let the debate begin!
As you can see, I just want to cap it at about 500 right now, but If the one about the D40 is worth it, I can squeeze out that extra ~80+ bucks
P.S -Sorry for cross posting, but I figure it would get more traffic here, and I doubt any admin can move the other one by tonight, since last night was Thanksgiving

link is busted...
does nikon still sell the D50? i have a D40 with the 18-55 kit lens. it's a decent camera, good for SLR newbies. the kit lens has a kind of small range though, we ended up buying the 55-200 as well.

BestBuy had a screamin deal today:
Canon Rebal XT w/ 18-55mm kit lens
75-300mm lens
camera bag
Total: $699
And yes, Nikon discontinued the D50 right soon after the D40 came out. That being said, that B&H deal looks pretty good too.

Can you elaborate the reasons why you would get the D50 over the D40? I was leaning towards the D50 due to the fact I can use more range of lenses with the autofocus feature, and that I can probably save more money this way. Since the D40 can only support 2 line ups that can use the auto focus feature. But I kinda like the 2.5'' LCD over the D50's 2'' LCD. Basically what's keeping the D40 still on the "list" is the 2.5'' LCD, and it seems like the D40 is a more user-friendly camera? But, I can be wrong?

It's almost best to pic out the lenses you want first, then pic out which camera body you want use them with. I didn't care about the auto focus issue because I knew that I was only going to buy a few select lenses anyway, and they are all AF-S lenses.

hey SG5 costco has a $100 off all cameras at the moment. The deal below is similar to what you came across but it comes with a 2gb stick.
