Camera Flash Ticket, need opinions...
Well obviously it's the weekday, and I live in Sacramento now, but I was down in the Bay Area in Fremont (yea yea I know worse area to be, I even got hit by rossette a few times but anywho my parents live in that city) for the weekend of October 6th and I believe I made a right turn from Mowry onto Cedar? Or Cedar onto Mowry? Not sure, but whatever the case may be they sent me a ticket with one of those camera photos... stating I didn't stop when making a right turn?
So I'm wondering a couple of things.
1. I understand these flashes and their accuracy of people running reds across intersections; however, I was making a right turn. So how can they possibly track if I fully stopped before or after I crept forward?
2. If I stopped at a redlight, and it flashed me as I crept across, stopped again to double check traffic, clear, so I went and flashed me again when starting to move. Then technically it could catch me at any speed while moving through it?
3. Do I have a case to argue not guilty? Or am I just being too optimistic about this ticket?

heh i saw someone get a camera ticket tonight.. it flashed the whole intersection.. same place you got yours except they went through the light straight. that sucks i would go to court to fight that one if you were making a right turn.

I remember driving on Automall many times heading between 680 toward 880 and at Fremont BLVD. when people were stopping and making a right turn the camera usually flashed them even though they stopped.
What do I need to build a case?
-I was thinking of asking them to provide the last date the camera was tested with accuracy of calculating cars making right hand turns.
-In addition consider that my insurance considered my car a sports car that I would have bigger brakes to slow down faster.
-I have an M1 and they state slowing down more than normal and pressing on the gas through the turn after I already checked traffic work?
Would those suggestions work, what other logical ones could I have them prove me guilty?

If there's a three picture sequence, each one will have a time printed on it. If they're before, during, and after the turn and there is a significant time difference you have a valid argument. Otherwise, you'll be hard pressed to prove your innocence. You can try claiming you stopped farther back and then proceeded when it was safe, but the speed and timing on the photos may prove different.
Good luck!

Could I ask them in all data records and flashes from the previous maintenance to prove at least 95% accuracy from all flashes taken?I was sittin' in psychology class and they were talkin about the bellcurve and the probability so could I contest the reliability of that photo.

Most red light cameras come armed with 10 second video. Basically, all the pictures are for, is to send you as proof, but if you fight it, there's a video it took. If you stopped, you're free, if you didn't stop, then there's no point to fight it.

If you heard that from an officer then most likely I'm screwed, thx for the info.
what are the speeds?
Many times i've had my picture taken. Usually it's cause I brake late, and the cameras get ready to take my picture but I stop at the line, so I've never gotten a ticket.
I mean, technically, do they or do they not, have 3 pictures of you going through the intersection?!?
If you stopped, the 2nd and 3rd photo would be the same as the first, otherwise, you probably didn't come to stop.

I don't see why you'd want to fight it if you ran the red light. i mean, if you ran the red light, you ran the red light. and it's not about the money, people die because of red light runners. Just own up to it if you did it.
red light camera.... yes.... I got flashed one time... It was actually pretty funny. the camera was broken and flashed EVERY CAR that was crossing the intersection. Needless to say, I never did receive a ticket.
As someone has mentioned, they usually come with a video, check it and good luck!

sorry dude, it's a pretty expensive ticket. i had one in san mateo and was $380 bucks.
they got a clean picture of you?
you may want to try ticketassassin.com if you are wanting to fight it. i lost though.

honestly, i dont see a case, unless the camera was broken.
Next thing is, did you actually run the red while making the turn? if you did, i wouldn't even bother fighting it. Although i did run a yellow one time while making a right turn, and the camera flashed. But granted, there was a toyota mr2 right next to me on the left who ran the light going straight through the intersection, and from what i suspected, probably triggered the camera where as i did not. i never got a ticket.

They use the speed sensors as well as the radar. The radar arms the system soon as it detects movment from the ground sensor. The radar then picks up the moving object and your nabbed. Just be glad you dont have to deal with them on the freeway yet. Or the mobile vans....
The system is almost fool proof. I'm not sure about this state. But was the limit line clearly marked? Thats about the only way to get out of that one. If the paint strip is worn, Or there was no sign posting "camera inforced" or "right turn after stop on red ok"
I'd check the limit line paint. Some states state there must be a point of no return line painted. A red strip 3 feet past the last white painted limit line. California I dont think requires those.
