Your problem is mobil 1, worst f'ing oil EVER!!!

I have an 07 STi and noticed that I was burning through about a QUART EVERY 1,000 MILES!!!! Obviously I freaked out, especially since I had less than 20k miles at the time... I did some research and found out that M1 changed their oil formula a couple of years ago to meet with smog standards (whatever the oil standards are called). I talked to Mike at GST and he told me that their racecar was using Mobil 1 and they were getting terrible results with it, which is why they had it sent to Blackhawk oil analysis, and to make a long story short, Blackhawk recommends using "TOTAL" brand oil. This is a HUGE deal since they test EVERY oil under the sun, and they say that TOTAL is the best of the best. I promptly switched to TOTAL from Mobil 1 and I haven't burned a SINGLE DROP of oil since the switch, and it's been about 16k miles since.

TOTAL is GREAT! It's hard to find and buy, but luckily GST sells it by the bucket, lol. Seriously, ditch the Mobil 1 and you wont burn oil ever again. I had the same problem in my 2000 2.5RS, as well as my 06WRX (burning oil, just not nearly as much as my STi). I changed my oil about 3k miles ago and my oil level hasn't changed since the day I changed it. I check my oil level EVERY time I get gas, especially after I started burning oil...

I'm not kidding at all, Mobil 1 strikes again, and when you switch to a better oil you'll see that you wont burn ANY oil at all. Remember, I was burning A FULL QUART every 900-1000 miles, and after the switch (didn't change anything else), I didn't burn any oil at all, it was def the mobil 1, and I have 3 cars that behaved exactly the same way. car's don't just stop burning oil without changing something, all i changed was the oil.

I use full synthetic valvoline oil and have no issues.

Take a piece of cardboard and leave it under the front end of your car overnight. Check back in the morning and see if there is any oil. Easiest way to check if you might have any obvious leaks from any gaskets, filter, drain plug etc.

If not then it might be the type of oil or something internally or something as simple as a pcv.
