I recently bought a 1998 Impreza 2.5 RS, and the day after I bought it started to make some engine noise. The noise sounded similar to a rod knocking, but a bit more subdued. I took it to the dealer, and they said it had too much oil pressure and it was causing valvetrain noise. They told me that it should be around 40-60 PSI, and it was reading 140 PSI. They flushed the engine out, and it is better, but I have heard the sound once or twice since.

Does this sound odd? I am a bit worried about this.

I have an 80 psi oil pressure guage in my 00 RS, and the guage never quite gets up to 80. 78 max I would say.
