I'm not saying you can't get RWD cars with enough power to oversteer, just that with stock settings, they are set up for some degree of push or understeer under most "close to the edge" conditions.
At the same time, if you apply enough torque to the rear wheels, of course a car can be made tail happy, even FWD cars can be made to oversteer if you know how.
My original point was that a little investment towards instruction in the subtleties of handling dynamics can save a person a lot of money on suspension mods that might not really help the handling in the long run.
But as others have mentioned, tweaks to the alignment and tire pressure can also do a lot to shift the handling balance.

yeah i would def set my cars for understeer if i were a company selling to 99% idiot drivers.
Though MX5's and RX8's are super tasil happy stock...i know this from ZoomZoom Live Alameda point.
yeah...oversteer is nice playing in the dirt, but can be scary coming in too hot on a 270 degree cloverleaf ramp.
