My car understeers like a PIG in the rain...
Picture a large pig trying to make a turn in the rain = my car in the rain...
I have stock suspension with upgraded sway bar + bfg KDW tires... Without going all crazy with suspension mods (would love to, but $$ is tight due to the wedding), what can I do to help remedy this? (meaning, without spending $$). There's gotta be a way to decrease my car from understeering so much...
In the dry my car is pretty nuetral, still understeers a tiny bit, but nothing like it does in the rain or slippery conditions... My RS feels like a RWD car compared to my WRX (06)
Help a brotha' out... I'm tired of sliding into curbs and children in school zones! (

I've only heard awesome reviews about some prodrive springs. They're built to work with the stock struts too. A few years back, I think a guy won STX on some prodrives beating out a lot of guys with full coilover setups.

in lieu of that, find a big wet parking lot and do some skidpad exercises, play with trailing throttle and left foot braking to find what it takes to get the front to grip and the back end to rotate, maybe try the next tighter setting on the rear sway bar (you did get an adjustable one, right?)

I would say some springs. BTW I saw you a few weeks ago at the Safeway on stevens creek but you were pulling out before I could say hi.
But yea I threw on some springs and group n tophats in the front and the car handles a lot better.

^^^ I was thinking this too.
And learn to left foot brake. If you're understeering in the rain, you're going fast enough to lose traction in the front wheels. So you'll need to learn how to rotate the car like a rally driver.
- hand brake
- flick
- LFB
- lift throttle over steer
- slow down

alignment makes a huge difference. Get a couple sets of camber bolts (for the rears and to replace the fronts). Find a good alignment shop and set front camber to -1.7* and rear to -1.0. Zero out the toe and go find a parking lot to play in. The stock alignment is set up to make the car understeer. Most people put on a bunch of suspension mods and overlook one of the most important factors.
This will cost some money, however. For a free solution, set the rear swap to the heaviest setting, revert to stock sway up front, raise tire pressure in the rear or lower in front (depending on what kind of pressure you're running now).
