Do you guys really think radar detectors work? I'm not trying to bash or anything, I would just like to hear your opinions. Do they really help if you are driving down a road by yourself and the cop turns on the radar gun when he sees you?
The only reason I ask is that I got nailed for 100+ in a 65 in my friends ML430. And that's with a radar detector that let me know when I drove by a Safeway but not when I got nailed. Just looking for some input here.
Also, SD any news on the mounts?

i have a detector (no longer working) in my suburban. it was weird
it would detect cops occaisionally, but i never was pulled over because i wasnt breaking any laws at the time.
but then, there would be no one, nor cops, co other cars, nothing at all around for miles out in the country, and it would beep at me. from the front, rear, and sides.
it was a cheapo option from the dealer i think.

in the question of radar detectors... aslong as you don't have the perception that a radar detector gives a person a the liberty to put the pedal to the metal each time they go out.
radar detectors... is just that... it will pick up radar signals... so if there are radar signals around, yes it will pick it upt.
*most chp folks would ride w/ them on... so as soon as you get near a copper your radar detector will go of.
but if the radar is off... then there is not really much a driver can do but to be observant.
i don't think a radar detector is idiot proof... so long as you speed all the time... a ticket is bound to get ya.

And I do speed all the time, I can't help it. I just got my 2nd ticket and I'm fighting it. Never been in an accident in 7 years of driving and I pride myself on that so don't go thinking that I'm reckless. I just drive a little different than most people.
