it's like a hissssss for a sec or so right? mine has been doing that for years.... and the damn recycle air door/flap thing makes click sounds when it moves... stupid dealer wouldn't fix it even under warranty but whatever... it doesn't bother me

03 with about 70K. It makes a loud weeeeeee or squeaking sound. Higher pitch.

 

check the ac belts? pulley bearings shot? does your ac still blow cold?

 

I'm in the same boat as you. Same weee sound whenever I use the defroster or A/C. I don't know if its the source of the sounds but when my A/C wasn't cold anymore I brought it into Chet's in Santa Clara to recharge it and he let me know that my A/C had a leak in it somewhere.

I have yet to fix the problem since its winter and don't need A/C plus I'm broke anyways. This at least might start you in the right direction.

 

So it only makes the noise when you switch it to defrost and not any other setting?

I just use the 2-80 A/C....you know, two windows down goin 80..... Getting a cold is less pain then scraping off 5% window tint anyways...and plus i got a heater! heat for the leet. Good luck on that AC tho

 

I just miss how much faster your window defrosts when you use the A/C. Gonna suck on rainy days lol.
