Military Veterans Thread

Thought I'd start a Military Veterans thread to share information:

Veteran ID cards available through Santa Clara office of Veteran Services starting June 12, 2015:
68 N. Winchester Blvd.
Santa Clara, CA 95050
The new I.D. cards may be used as proof of honorable service in the United States Armed Forces, instead of carrying DD-214 papers. The card will help provide easier access to services, benefits and veterans’ discounts at many local businesses.
No appointment necessary. Just show up with your DD 214 and they'll take a picture of you and issue the ID on the spot. Takes about 5 minutes.

California Driver’s License to indicate individual as Military Veteran
Governor Brown Signs Veteran Driver?s License Bill - Assemblymember Jim Frazier Representing the 11th California Assembly District

Beginning Veterans Day of 2015, this legislation will allow a veteran to apply for a California driver’s license or identification card with a designation that clearly identifies the individual as a veteran. “California is home to the nation’s largest veteran population, nearly two million, yet almost one million have not been identified,” said Assembly member Frazier. “Not only will AB 935 honor our state’s veterans, it will also play a critical role in improving access to resources, benefits and services for individuals who have served our country.”

Wow, that'll make things quite a bit easier.

Also, the Veteran indication integrated into a California Driver's License would be a much easier way to show I'm a veteran without pulling out my DoD ID's out.
