Yea, we have the money dance, the rich aunties and uncles as sponsors, the money tree/well but as Salty said...
It's all capitalism in the end and a ring on the finger is still a ring on the finger.
in the end it's all about marrying the person you want to be happy with for the rest of your life.

Congratulations! But you ever wonder why they call it wedLOCK?
In Hawaii you're lucky to do anything even remotely resembling what the bride would want for <$50k...

Someone around here had a VERY expensive wedding, spent almost 5K JUST on the photographer (didn't get the negatives), and seemed to have a really beautiful day. Less than two years later, the fairytale ended.
I'm thinking of inviting about a dozen friends to the ceremony (chapel only holds 15), and inviting maybe 30 people to a reception at a winery afterward. That's IF and WHEN I decide to take the plunge again.

Congrats....
So true in my brother-in-laws case. He got a $6700 photographer (no assistant, just one) and it took 6 months just to get the proofs!!! $2000 on her dress alone, Wedding in Sonoma and I had to stay at a hotel for two days ($400 out of my pocket + a gift). Wedding was in October.....his wife moved backed in with her mother 2 weeks ago!!!! Divorce may be on the way. Ha. But I must say we all told him she was a b!tch. They dated for 7 years before getting married.
By the way, I got married 5 weeks ago.....150 guests...good times, and all for less than half what my brother-in-law shelled out. I initially wanted to go to tahoe and get it over with, but now i feel it was money well spent. Best day of my life.

Divorce was final 12/03. No regrets, lots of lessons learned.
There's no 'if this then that' equations with this stuff. Just be a good person, act like you would want your laydee to act, realize that everyone is different, be honest and keep the communication lines open. You'll do fine. Congrats!!
