typical bonds
How did he turn his back on the team once he was taken out of the game? He left becuase he didn't want to be used as a puppet to sell tickets or give sound bites to the media who he didnt trust due to the way they treated his father.

And yes, Griffey would have been better had he been able to stay healthy, but he didn't so he wasn't. Im not speaking in hypotheticals, Im speaking in terms of actual on field production.
OK bonds in his prime vs griffey in his prime

griffey was sick

Say what you want about Bonds, he is still the greatest player of his generation, juiced or not.
3 years is a big amount of on the job training (doesn't matter if it's MLB or McDonalds, you will improve in 3 years unless you're worthless). 3 years is the age difference between Cain and Kershaw. It DOES mean something, and if you think it doesn't you apparently haven't worked a job in your life.

Oh, and +1 to Griffey in his prime.

Griffey was sick, no doubt about it, but I would still take Bonds.

Yes, and it was a week after the front office said they would not offer him another contract, he was giving the middle finger to the front office.

Whoa, he was taking ritalin (sp?) ?? That's why he was suspended? That's pretty damn lame, I thought he was on real roids or something.

Sorry if this info is false, but this is the second time Ive heard he was on ritalin... If thats true, I think its lame to be suspended for that

No, he said he was on Ritalin, then the report came out that he tested positive for something else. He tested positive for a female fertility drug, and something to help his body produce testosterone naturally since the body does not do that after coming off a cycle since it is used to artifical testosterone. I believe he had something like 10x the normal amount of testosterone a body is supposed to have as well.

Ritalin is banned, it is not a PED and you have to test positive 2x for amphetamines before you recieve a suspension.

Also, how do you figure that a 4-5, 3.76 ERA is close to 9-1 with a 2.28 ERA? In what universe are those numbers close?

Bonds used to always go for it too. He did win 8 gold gloves, a fact many people forget.

The front office handled that pretty poorly, I wont deny that. No need to tell him he wont be back before the season is over.

I'm happy that we're discussing two of the biggest tools in baseball in one thread.

Bonds AND Manny!

I'm so glad Manny isn't in Boston anymore.
