I disagree, it is one thing to recommend something but I have never been told that something i had previously bought or is on my car right now is complete crap. If that said part is breaking or wearing down, then yea sure voice your opinion. And there is a big difference between you a customer voicing your opinion and a shop doing so.
Now that is personal preference honestly....

Why spend all that money on adjustability that you're not taking advantage of? It's the purist in me speaking. It also feeds into belief that coilovers don't belong on a DD or car that doesn't see competitive level race use. Nobody can outdrive a good set of struts and springs on public roads and most people who have coilovers can't out drive springs in some legitimate race environments. A friend of mine put AST 5200s on a car that would never see a track in its lifetime. The amount of money spent for capabilities he wasn't using boggled my mind.

Hvt is ast hollands north america rep and they just came out with a coil valved for the GD. No custom options. They are soley a DD height adjustment coilover.
Made is USA! For under 1000 bucks!

You know they sell coilovers for daily driving.....and they arent expensive.

FYI: pretty much EVERYTHING about cars is personal preference.

But there are plenty of advantages of a properly set up set of coil overs on a street driven car that sees track use.
For one thing you can custom valve and spring them. You can dial in your right height exactly where you want it. You're not limited to choosing to go with one type of spring that lowers you so much and another type that lowers you a different amount.
And they're rebuildable. i.e. long term use.
And if you don't like the height you can change it.
Etc etc etc.
Right height adjustability is the easiest thing for someone to look at but in my book is not the main advantage over a static set up. It's the overall adjustability that is.

Im going with a height only adjusting coilover. Serviced is a given....but honestly 50% of the users of coilovers are not tweaking with them once installed correctly.
The coilover is being chosen to give me a asthetically pleasing drop as my tokico struts handle beautifully.
I would love a set and forget type application.

Bingo. The people who buy quality coils are the ones who are going to take the time to get them setup properly and likely know how they want the car to behave. The majority of people I see buy coils just buy them because moar low, not handling.

Yea I could have gotten the Tein Wagon coilovers back in the day, but they were only good for height adjustment. That would have been a waste of money to me.
