+1 for Winchester Auto. They're 9.95 a piece for Redline MT-90 (had to pick some up for the beater), but if you need them right away, they got it.

Wow, so I ordered the oil from Summit on Tuesday afternoon and it was waiting on my doorstep when I got home from work yesterday (Wednesday). A 24 hour delivery shipped from Sparks, Nevada....not bad.

Thanks again for everyone's input. I think I will try Swepco next time, if for no other reason than to give LIC my business.

Thanks for the plug!

Unfortunately I didn't see this earlier, we have 3 quartz of Redline MT sitting here on the shelf that we have no use for.

I've heard bad things about redline.

I'm doing a clutch deal on monday. Thinking new fluids would be wise. Not sure what to go with. THinking I'll let Mike do what he does.

One very important thing to keep in mind is that Redline is GL-4 and Subaru transmissions call for GL-5. So, effectively it says RIGHT ON THE BOTTLE to not use it. Not sure someone should badmouth Redline as a product because something bad happened when it was used in a Suby tranny. Not saying you are badmouthing it of course, just saying in general.

My thought is, you wouldn't see people in race cars using it when they need reliability if it were such a bad product. Never heard of SWEPCO - have to look into it tho I use strictly PentoSyn now.

Which is why it's pretty useless to us, I believe it was leftover from one of my old cars or something. Like you say, redline isn't a bad product, but we always advise against using it in Subaru transmissions.

We use/sell Swepco because I've used it for over 7 years and have had good results with it. Not saying it's the best, we tend to sell what we use and that way we can give real feedback and experience back to the customer.

I just looked at a bottle of Redline 75W-90NS in my storage shed, and it said "Recommended for API GL-5" on it.

Maybe it's only the MT-90 that doesn't meet the criteria?

Just so nobody thinks I'll be using the Redline in my Subaru, I bought it for the Miata I just picked up. I defer to the experts when it comes to the Suby

Haha.. You are 100% correct. For some reason people look at only the MT-90 and MTL which are great for older standard gearboxes (T-5, W-58, etc) but never consider the straight gear lube. The MT-90 and MTL lubes are rated to GL-4 but all of their gear oil, even the lightweight and shockproof, are rated to "exceed" GL-5. Food for thought.
