it's a weird government thingee.

the 4wd club i belong has a trip down to the death valley region twice a year.

once it got popular, there were like 20+ vehicles in the caravan.

a park ranger in a HMMWV stopped the caravan. he actually warned them that more than 6 vehicles in a row constitute an organized event and required all sort of BS (insurance, permits, etc).

well, the year after, they made it so the caravans were 5 vehicles or less and broke the group up into 2 or more caravans and were separated by a few minutes on the road...

gotta pay to play i guess...

vote new politicians to get laws reversed if you wanna make a difference.

dont get your hopes up. all paved and everything.

i saw we hold it at like hollister hills SVRA.

we can run a psuedo rally-x. there is a motorcycle racing track close to the vehicle only section (park is separated into 2 sections: one for 2 wheels and the other for 4 wheels) that CAN BE used for events.

plus, even if it did, would you really want a claim like that on your insurance? They would drop you faster then you could blink, and no company in the state of california would want to insure you after that.
That's why I said I was looking into throwing concerts...

Not sure......but I don't want any vendors there, and don't see why anyone else would..........if so they can figure it out.

but everyone else have rules.

eventually, the owners of the place will get the police involved. and that's where the fun ends.

Now youre thinking...even though 1/2 the lowered Subies from the bay wouldnt make it past the gate, and thats even if they decided to touch their virgin tires to the dirt!

HHills sucks for Rallying, not really anywhere you can do it, since the access roads are 15 mph and rangers can ticket you for reckless driving, even if youre on a trail i would think.

But Carnegie in Livermore would let everyone in, $5 entry, with plenty of parking and heat!...why am i even typing, thats a dumb idea...but it avoids insurance i would think.

The way to avoid the insurance thing is to make it so they don't think its a special event, so basically you need to lie out of your teeth because we most def ARE a special event any way you look at it.

I don't know how the insurance was done last year, Miki took care of that and we don't really talk anymore so I can't get the info from her. I do remember it being friggin expensive though.

Where that ipozestu guy... the guy that thinks throwing this meet is free...

I really think we should change venues, we've totally outgrown hamilton and that location is pretty damn expensive after everything is said and done, not to mention the $5 parking! $5 x 400 = bannnk

No matter what park we go to it's going to cost us parking in the summer time.

I'll apply for the special even permit if I have to, and I can find someone to insure us if need be. I just need to get that done in the next 3 weeks so I know if it isn't going to happen that I can get a refund on the site.

But lets work on starting good relations with this site because it's got everything we'd need for the next 5-6 years.

Try to lie as much as possible so that they don't think it's a special event. All you need to do basically is to down play how many people we have and not tell them about ANY of the events we have planned... All they need to know about is the BBQ and that some folks are showing up... Thats ALL they need to know, otherwise we have to pay like a couple grand for the special event permit which basically rents out the entire park.

So yeah, lie lie lie!!! I've done it many times in the past, it's easy. It's not like we're getting over on the park, we're still paying them BAAANK for this event, not to mention the money they get from the parking from everyone.

In the end we both win... We get the site for a decent price and they get a bunch of money from us. It'd be cool if we could get like $100 of spare money to buy them a little gift from BAIC... Or if we could write them a check for a donation that goes DIRECTLY to the park instead of going through all the channels it normally has to go through. We did this for the observatory for 3 years in a row... I think we threw in like $200 one year straight to the observatory. The lady that tends the place knows us and says we're the best car club that comes around there.

But yeah, this meet takes a lot of time and a lot of money to make happen, I'm glad that someone else stepped up to the plate for once! You guys rock for doing this... And maybe now people will realize how much time and effort this thing actually takes to set up... Perhaps you wont be attacked by anyone like ipozesedu for your efforts to make this happen... You'll get a lot of people that get jealous and want to take this meet into their own hands and make it into something completely different, but this meet is what it is and will stay this way forever.
