Yeah, i really shouldn't be complaining about the time its taking them to fix it. i did luck out BIG TIME that they are repairing the engine. I'm focusing my rage mostly on the fact that i got the car back in WORSE condition then when i brought it in. And i must stress the fact that i was/am running STOCK BOOST. I dont really feel like getting ripped on like that 2fast4U guy... Although i might deserve it, a bit.

At least you get a WHOLE new engine rather than just a valve job. I'd be even more excited about that. I'd also consider it a chance to get rid of your rice mods that are doing more harm than good (BOV, CAI)...and make sensible performance enhancing mods.
Congrats on the new engine!

it's not only boost that can destroy engines....
the fact of matter is that you took something out of spec, and it broke, but putting the blame on others and basically telling them that you have never modified it.
It's more of a moral thing.
Regardless of how bad the service is at a dealership, all the repairs gets billed back to Subaru.
Not trying to be a saint, but just thought it was somewhat unfair to complain about something that was caused by you.

I agree again with Tommy from a moral standpoint, but if his boost control is stock, I don't see how those mods could result in a bent valve unless something was manufactured incorrectly from the start.

regardless, I'm glad they fixed it. Many people have been screwed out of legitimate repairs...
good luck..

what you did is kinda like ordering a water at taco bell and really taking some soda instead. its all good for you at the moment, but when taco bell loses money from people doing it they raise the prices on everything else to make up for it.
i still hate stevens creek subaru.. they cant put a damn drain bolt on right.

SOA and Stevens Creek
For all of you who have had good or bad experiences with Stevens Creek, SOA would like to hear from you.
I wrote to SOA regarding some of the experiences that I had with them and they wrote the email found below. The cliff notes version is that they do care what we say and the best way for the subaru community to be heard is to:
1. Contact SOA directly (www.subaru.com or 1-800-SUBARU3)
2. Be very detailed in your experiences (who you dealt with, when you were there, exactly what happened).
3. Don't rant (let your experiences speak for themselves).
Subaru (understandably) can't do much with the rants that we see often on the Subaru forums. They need detailed experiences and they need to document the information on their database. Ultimately, I think SOA would like to take action regarding certain dealers, but to do so, they need lots and lots of evidence.
------------
Thank you for visiting the Subaru Web site and for taking the time to
e-mail us. We are sorry to hear of the circumstances that prompted you
to write to us. It is certainly disappointing to hear complaints
regarding our Authorized Subaru Dealerships since they represent us in the
field. Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) upon receipt of a complaint takes
the most productive and greatest action possibly allowed by law.
Federal franchising regulations limit the amount and type of action the
franchise can take against the franchisee and vice versa.
The contract between any Subaru dealership and SOA is a 50/50 agreement
that can be nullified if either party should fail to live up to the
terms and conditions of the agreement, the relationship can be terminated
and the Subaru dealer can be closed down. For obvious reasons, a
dealership cannot be closed based on a few complaints. We receive
complaints (and compliments) on all of our dealerships, some more than others
do. If Stevens Creek Subaru were to not fulfill the terms of the
contract, their future would be at stake.
The decision to renew or terminate a dealer's contract is not based on
sales numbers alone. Customer service ratings, quality of the
facility, location, market, warranty claims, service and repair, and third
party reviews are considered equally, although being exceptionally poor in
one major area can affect the dealer's future as well.
Realize that we do take all complaints very seriously, and we contact
each dealership each time we receive any comments, positive or negative
and relay the information to the management of the dealer. The
management then responds to us with their side of the story and we thoroughly
document both parties’ statements in our permanent records. Since we
are a mediator we cannot take sides. When we see a pattern develop over
time, we can then take direct action on a dealer. Similarly, the
dealer also has rights and can take action against SOA should we not fulfill
our end of the agreement.
What would make a real difference in the situation would be if every
customer who took the time to complain in online forums were to utilize
their resources in contacting SOA directly. That would be far more
productive, as we cannot effectively utilize information found on Internet
forums, etc. The information is not statistically accurate, not always
legitimate, and we cannot speak to those customers to obtain additional
info. As you know we can be accessed through the Internet just as
easily as any web forum. If customers do not advise us of their
dissatisfaction, we cannot help them or ourselves.
The first step for a customer with a dealership concern is to speak to
the Service or Sales Manager depending on the nature of the concern.
If those channels are unsuccessful, the General Manager of the
dealership is the next step up. Beyond the General Manager, the owner or owners
of the dealership are there to address any concerns that are unresolved
at the GM level. Since the management and ownership of the dealership
are most directly responsible for the quality of sales and service,
they should be contacted first. If your concerns are still unresolved,
contact SOA and we can mediate and facilitate a resolution to specific
complaint or concern.
Our records show that your nearest Subaru dealership is Ron Price where
you purchased your Subaru. We hope that your experience with them is
satisfactory. Please contact us at 1-800-SUBARU-3 (1-800-782-2783) if
you would like to provide us with more information or share this
information with the Subaru community so that we can all be proactive. Thank
you for the opportunity to be of service.
Sincerely,
Samir Hasan

That's just a form letter that had the names of Stevens Creek and Ron Price inserted into blank fields. See thread below for real world dealings with SOA:

We never direct SOA to this site.

SCS did offer the best price when I bought my WRX premium package. I bought there because I saved over 1k compared to Carlson and Santa Cruz. I talked to the internet sales manager over the phone a week before. I told him what I wanted and he quoted me a price. Came in the next Saturday and bought the car for the price quoted. I thought for sure they would try to say they forgot some charge or whatever. Anyway, I got the car I wanted for a good price.
My only gripe with them is when I was doing research on the car and came in to test-drive only and not buy.
1. Body Builder dude was like floor it around this turn and feel the handling (as I looked at the onramp "METER ON" flashing sign and the cars at the red meter light). I was like uh no there are cars there and he was like, "uh, oh".
2. We got on the freeway and body builder dude said shift to third and floor it (I was already doing 70). I was like this car has 12 miles on it and you want me to floor it? What about the engine break-in period?
3. Body Builder dude told me that you could mod the car to well over 300 HP and stay street legal and not void the warranty. That is the biggest lie ever!
Anyway, I bought the car there because of the price. I haven't had any problems with them since I bought the car and I have my service done else ware. I didn't have a bad experience in buying though. I know many of you have.

"Thanks for taking the time to post. Merged your post into existing Steven Creek public service/rant thread.

Honestly, I think some parts of the reply are form letter, and some parts are written out to address the concerns that I raised. That is, the letter did address many of the specific issues that I brought up in my original complaint.
But, form letter or not, the only way for SOA to truly be able to respond to their dealers is to be confronted with massive amounts of evidence of exceptionally poor service.
It just makes good business sense for SOA to stay out of the issue unless they see a widespread problem that covers a multitude of clients. Once they see that, then it would be of benefit for them to step in and take some (ahem!) "corrective action."

my contribution to this craphole of a dealer.
ok long one here goes.
Chalk another pissed off person up for Stevens Creek Subaru, thanks bobby you complete loser of a saleman.
I went in to the dealer just poking around to get a feel for what i was looking at. At first glance I almost immediately discounted all subarus because of the inordinate markup stickers placed on the windows of the cars. $5k markup for an 05 wrx sedan $4k for an 05 wrx wagon, and $3k for an 04 wrx wagon. This put me off pretty bad, but I'm a pretty mean haggler so I thought I'd give it a shot. They easily let me go for a test drive, but the stupid *** sat in the front seat immediately even though I had my wife and kid with me, that PISSSSSED the wife off. Anyhow the drive was good and I was really happy with the car so we got back to the dealer and the first thing out of my mouth is "I'm not at all interested in buying today I'm just shopping around, with al bullcrap aside what kind of numbers am I talking" The first number he put on paper almost made me punch him($31k for an 05 wrx wagon). I then asked what about trade in. I about my flawless black 01 v6 accord for trade in with 25k miles, not a ding in the body(it is currently in the shop due to a hit and run, one fender and some suspension work being done), freshly zaino'd, I kept the interior spotless in the car with no stains and no abnormal wear, tires have less than 500 miles on them, brakes are less than 1000 miles, and this moron writes $5k for trade in. I almost got up and left immediately. He asks me to please wait a second and goes into the magic mirrored room and comes back and says "ok buddy, you have to shake my hand, look at the deal I got for you" and pushes a piece of paper in front of my nose with $8k written on it. I got pretty upset and said "Do you have any f#@$ing idea how much that car is worth. He gave me this BS that after an accident that's over $500 cars get a salvage title. I guess he thought I was stupid, the car had about $3k worth of damage that was being fixed at a dealer recommended body shop, and salvage titles only happen when your car is declared totaled by the insurance company. I whipped out reports from KBB.com stating my car was worth between $12k and $16k for trade in and he almost crapped his pants. He got up and went back into the magic room and pulled the "buddy shake my hand, look at the deal I got for you" again. He showed me a piece of paper with $10K written on it. I was pretty mad and told him I'd just sell it by myself, so what are we looking at bottom line for the car. He played with the calculator, he says "out the door with tax title and the other fees, $31750". We go though some arguing and a few more "buddy shake my hand bits" and he gets all the way down to $29k out the door for an 04 wagon with 1100 miles on it, but here's the clincher, he just pushes a piece of paper in front of me and says, "here buddy sign this". I asked what it was and he calmly said "oh it's just you accepting the offer to take the car" I got up and said "thank you, that's not in my price range" and called to my wife and kid and politely asked for my license and registration for my accord back. They started pulling "oh no sit down lets talk some more" it was already too late and I was pretty mad so I demanded my stuff back and STILL they refused. I then threatened to call the police if they didn't give me my stuff back and magically the manager disappeared and was back out 20 seconds later with my stuff.
Now I really wanted a subbie for my new car and had already done some research on KBB and edmunds as to what I should be looking at price wise. I ended up going to Carlsen. I told the salesman I wasn't interested in any BS what price could he give me bottom line. We sat down, he immediately said and "ok here's the invoice, I can go $750 below this plus $1000 for the current incentive." He said without seeing my car(it was still in the body shop) but based on my description he estimated between $12K and $14k(which is what I was expecting). So overall Carlsen was more than $10K price difference between Stevens Creek.
Can anyone guess here I bought y new toy from? lol
I'll also note that while I was at stevens creek subaru, I personally witinessed some stupid young kid take 8.9% financing and $43K out the door for an 05 STi. I wanted to slap him, but it was his stupidity.
