lemans karting laptimes.

On my first visit I pulled a 19.690 on the 24th of Aug, old layout, and then a 20.961 on the 9th of Sept, new layout. My boss and I go every second Thurs. So the new layout scrubs roughly a second. I was taking a late apex into turn one then carrying a lot of speed through the tight bit with just a little left/right flick and then had to lift just a bit through turn 2 to avoid drifting out into the wall.
I weigh in at 140.
I also started the Go Kart Racer League Series last Wed. I'm in the Light grouping. We could use a few more entries if anyone is interested pm me and I'll give you the details.

Im interested, PM'd. Anyway, yea so basicly lemans added in a shikane not too long ago. I only have been once since it was added, and needless to say I wasn't able to break into the 19's...but was close, I got around 20.4 I think. Whats the incentive you say? Dual engine karts. Thats right, if you are able to break into the 19's on the new track setup they will let you drive a dual engine kart - can anyone say dramaticly different experience there? Torque coming out of turns? Of course the handling will still be the same, and maybe a bit dif because of the extra weight in the back but, yea. It was hard for me to hit really good times cus the track was a bit congested / i got a pretty bad kart my second springs, but anyway yea thats the scoop.

I just went at lunch... this is my first experience with the new kink after turn 1... scary at first since you have so much speed, but once you figure out how fast you can go, it's fun.
I feel so lame my best time was 20.58. I used to be able to break 19's!!
I haven't been karting for months... it was amazing how long it took "the feel" to start to come back. Sheesh. I'm gonna have to go again soon to actually use my potential.
BTW, there's a HUGE rough patch on the turn 3 hairpin which gives TONS of traction if you hug the inside. Turn 6 was killing me because it was super slippery anywhere near the inside.
I used kart 13.

Woe... I forgot about qualifying for dual engine karts.... I gotta go back and improve stuff.
BTW, turn 6 was just KILLING ME. My best way to do this seemed to be to do a super late apex on 5 so that I can hug that left wall, then turn into 6 with no brakes (some lift throttle) and get back on throttle asap but LIGHTLY. The floor closest to the inside seemed super slippery so I couldn't be in turn through there.
What am I supposed to do for 6?

W3RD!! That is by far my weakest corner... especially with my fat ***, I either end up scrubbing off too much speed with a flick, slow down too much, or go too wide on the exit. Still havent figured out the most effecient route.
I got 1-2-3-4 down to a science

I went with some friends last night. I hit a 19.365. The track is really grippy right now.
I pitch the kart into 5 and stay tight to the barriers and do a quick lift of the throttle before turning into 6. If you time it right, you'll get a really good run out of the corner, sometimes I slide too much out of there though.
Also, it depends a lot on the way the kart behaves.
PS - there is sign now that says you have to hit a 19.5 to drive the twin engine kart.

I can validate
I drove against Willis last night and can attest to his advise; he is quick through the 5/6 complex and that is where I was loosing some time to him. I managed a 19.5xx but was over-driving a bit.
Hey Willis, very nice smooth drive last night. Let me know when you're going and I will try and meet you there.
PS if you are down in the South Bay some weekend and want to feel what the Flex's are like, give me a shout.
Enduro tonight, double points night.
