While I don't know the exact amount of profit as profit is relative to operating costs, I do know that the real money makers for the stations are their garages. When a station is privately owned and not leased to someone, the garage is the money maker. They do smog, and all the little fixit stuff....thats the profit.

 

Don't forget the snack shop & cigarette portion makes a ton of money.

I completed an Environmental Chemistry class last semester (mostly o-chem)... Blech! Then again, I had only taken one general chemistry class during undergrad (about 10 years ago), so it was a brutally steep learning curve.

Yeah, a plain cup'o'joe at Starbucks is over two dollars. I can get a whole gallon of gas for that price. I can drive 12 miles on the highway and use the rest as a molotov cocktail to throw through the window of hippie coffee house. How about that Starbucks?
