I'm not familiar with that procedure...
I'll tell you, these eyedrops are a godsend
Amazon.com: Allergan Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops Single-Use Vials - 100 ct.: Health & Personal Care
They are specifically for post lasik recovery and are SOOOO nice. You can use them as often as you want

Ok, so to answer some questions and expand on my experience and to give an update:
The cost was $4200...which seems to me to be a deal. I'm in the early stages of recovery and I can read the clock across the room!
Ok, so to back up a little...
I had the best experience with the staff of Dr Craig Bindi, his places are clean and high tech, he actually meets with you and discusses things unlike other places and there was no pressure to sign up for the procedure.
The morning of te procedure, I was nervous to say the least. I had read just about everything on the I Internet about PRK and epi lasik, what the soft brush is, how it works...read stories about the "clockwork orange" eye ball spreader and how it caused pain etc etc etc.
I am not one that likes his eye ***** touched. I was nervous about the suction clamp and the electric tooth brush thingy pressing on my eye, squeezing it while it sanded off a layer of epithelial what ever.
Yes, I'll take the extra large dose of Valium please...
Unfortunately, it never kicked in. The staff could see I was nervous and let me delay my procedure about 30 more minutes hoping the Valium kicked in. My wife, a nurse, thought it was hilarious to see me nervous and suggested I do laps of the facility to get the Valium moving in my system...
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I finally realized that the Valium was not going to work and I'd just have to do it.
Eye numbing drops, a few prayers by me for god to let those at least work, an then into the cool laser room.
I was told to close my eyes and lay down. I did, trying not to recount you tube videos of te procedure.
Dr Bindi comes in and asks how I'm doing (he knew I was nervous)
He put a bandage over one of my eyes, told me to look at a light and he was going to open my eyelid to look in.
Then he told me to look at a light, I see what looks like a small ring come to my eye (eye think this is the eye ball spreader not knowing he already put it in, painlessly and with out discomfort) my vision goes blurry for about 2 seconds. He tells me to look at the light again and then says, ok we are going to prep te other eye.
So a repeat of the other eye, painless etc. no discomfort.
So in thinking, ok, he had my eyeballs spread open and ready to scrape the layer off in order to do the laser part.
Nope, he says, go ahead and sit up, how do you feel?
Me: what? We are done? That was great!
So I walk out to my wife who was watching though the window and she exclaims, that was quick.
So the lesson learned here for anyone thinking about it: not only is it painless, there is no discomfort and its super quick. Dr Bindi and his team are super nice and I highly recommend them...
Next post ill talk about recovery...

Fast forward one month. I'm 20/25 in my right eye and 20/40 in my left. Doc says I'm on schedule for healing and it can take up to two more months for the vision to settle.
My vision goes from really good to fuzzy if I'm tired or the rare times that my eye dries out. (My left eye was dry when he tested it, resulting in the worse number)
So happy I did this. Everyday my vision stabilizes a little bit more. So happy to not need glasses anymore!

Alright. Have my surgery scheduled for next Thursday with dr Bindi. Epi-LASIK. Went to a bunch of places, some were nice (laservue) some were holes (Ellis), some had really nice staff, some had horrible staff that I ended up finding that told lies to try to get me to sign up (Ellis)...
Anyways, went with bindi, nicest staff, great clean place, top notch equipment, actually met with the surgeon, he offered all types of surgeries but stated he would only do epi because of an anomaly in my eye etc. just had the best feeling about this place. Felt the most comfortable and most educated etc.
Price was highest of all, but again, I'm not looking for a deal.
So after the surgery and te recovery time, ill post up again with my results and experience!
