My buddy got lasik and they actually made his vision WORSE because the doctor sort of botched it. They redid it for free and were able to get things to at least be an improvement over where he started. This guy is moneybags (retired a multi-millionaire at 42, will never work again, no wasn't lotto) too so he definitely goes to the best doctors.

Yeah. Not looking to save a buck. I want the latest and greatest no matter the price. I only got one set of eyes.

Rather b deaf than blind sort of thing.

-5 and they turned you away? Wonder what they'd tell me:

Code:
       SHPERE CYLINDER AXIS PRISM
O.D. -8.0 -3.0 22 --
O.S. –8.5 -1.75 167 --
Minus 8 with a side of astigmatism. Then there's the mole on the back of my eye ( according to my optomitrists anyway, not that I've ever seen it ) My eyes are beyond ****ed up.

On the plus side, if I ever need to see anything in detail I can focus on something at a two finger gap from my nose. So if I don't know it that allen wrench is 7/64 or 1/8, I can just pop off my glasses and read the engraving in no time. It's kind of like having a built-in jeweler's glass.

As far as recommendations, on the radio I always hear about dr william ellis or dr craig bindy as having a pay for one eye get the 2nd free deals haha...not sure how I feel about a coupon for eyesight but they have great reviews
That's trippy....I was -5 and -5.5 with mild astigmatism and they fixed me up quite easily...

-3.5 left eye, +3.5 right eye, go figure

Also, sometimes they turn you away for several reasons:
1) Your cornea isn't thick enough
2) The doctor has determined that lasik will not help your eye sight (i went for a follow up on my left eye and was turned away)
3) you prescription has yet to stabilize

I got mine done with Dr. Bindi. They wouldn't let me drive home that day but I could drive myself to the follow-up the next day.

There was no discomfort on the surgery other than some slight pressure when they performed the corneal flap cut. They numbed the eyes rather well.

Just remember to ask the surgeon how many lasik procedures they have performed. The more they've done the greater chance you'll have less complications.

I had a procedure called PRK done about 6 years ago and it was done by the AirForce when I was active duty, this was big before Lasik. I would have to say it was an awful week after it was done but in the end I would do it all over because my eyes are perfect now and I was legally blind before without glasses. My exwife had lasik and could see right away and was good in a couple of days. I say do it asap!!!

Made appointments with 3 different spots to check them out. Hopefully I will learn enough in the next month to be able to make a good decision as to where to get it done.

That's why my wife went to the laser eye center on the Cal campus. It was a bit more than the "Dr. Gary Kawish" ads from KNBR and whatnot, but it's going on 8 or so years now and she couldn't be happier. Zero regrets.

Good Luck!

Definitely worth it. My wife and I did it 15 years ago with a reputable surgeon. Vision is still perfect to this day. Look at it as a one time expense, because you never have to buys contacts, solutions, time lost cleaning/installing/removing. And you can buy whatever sunglasses you like withoit any correction. Totally worth it.

Alright. Have my surgery scheduled for next Thursday with dr Bindi. Epi-LASIK. Went to a bunch of places, some were nice (laservue) some were holes (Ellis), some had really nice staff, some had horrible staff that I ended up finding that told lies to try to get me to sign up (Ellis)...

Anyways, went with bindi, nicest staff, great clean place, top notch equipment, actually met with the surgeon, he offered all types of surgeries but stated he would only do epi because of an anomaly in my eye etc. just had the best feeling about this place. Felt the most comfortable and most educated etc.

Price was highest of all, but again, I'm not looking for a deal.

So after the surgery and te recovery time, ill post up again with my results and experience!

Just curious, what is it going to cost you? Been thinking about this for years.

I'm 5 days after surgery now and can finally see my phone to post this...
Surgery went well, painless and quick. Valium never kicked in...
I have a high tolerance for pain killers, and let me tell you, the next two days after the surgery were super painful.
I had the prk epi lasik, which is different than the flap lasik...

But around 3 pm yesterday the pain finally subsided. Now it's just random pain and feeling like something is in my eye.

The vision is finally starting to improve. Light sensitivity is starting to go away...but my eyes do get tired quick.

From all that I have read on the recovery, I am right on schedule and have about another 2 weeks for te vision to settle down...
