Sucks you have to get cited to get certified, it would be great to be able to upgrade your exhaust, get that setup certified, and have your paperwork ready in case SJPD or another local agency decides it needs to do an enforcement push.

True that does suck... I wonder if there is anyone out there who is certified or official that has a dB meter, or if it would even help to have test results from your car's system in your car (I am thinking not).

that's wat i thought that they were both correctable but the officer marked on the ticket that the Blow off valve is correctable and the exhaust one is non correctable. I never understood that. But I will just put my stock blow off valve on and put stock downpipe on and see if i pass the state ref check.

Its the officers 'Subjective' judgement, which is not based on an actual measurement, just their "trained ear". The way to defeat that is to use 'Objective' judgement, aka measured data, aka a Db test at a ref station.

If you bring it up in court; you would exemplify this by getting the judge to agree that officers use radar guns to get an 'accurate' (objective) mph reading, rather than their visual perception to get an 'accurate' (subjective) mph reading.

 

Told you. You can get the ticket over and over again, at least under section (b) you can get a cert and then you're good to go I think. The cop could still give you a ref ticket if they want to though, the cert is more for court than for the cop.

 

somewhat true, I took a cop to court who wrote me a speeding ticket when he was standing on the side of the road. I won.

Now, a cop would win if was "pacing you", his word against yours. Highly subjective, but he will win every time.

 

Make sure your exhaust is stock too.


Oh, BTW, you don't have a state ref ticket! It's just a fix it ticket if it's 27150. Check the ticket for the CVC again.

It is state ref ticket as on the back of the ticket it says State Ref required NO Officer sign off. And i called that number that everyone else called ... and the office is closed and they gave me the number to Department of Consumer Affairs and the person over there told me I just gotta wait until state ref stations open and take my car over there. Another question
Can I sell my car while i still have this ticket and not clear it?
