To be clear, are you talking about the rail/lip thing on the side of the car where you place the OEM jack to jack up the car?
Do, or do not put the jack stands there?
Now you have me confused.

well, if you lower the car slowly you actually don't bend the pinch welds. One of mine is bent because the stock jack bent it... but lifting the car and putting stands under the pinch welds has never bent one for me. (not to say I haven't seen people bend them, but it's because they drop the car too fast onto them)

IMHO all you need is a jack that is rated to the bare minumum 1/2 of the car's gross weight. The jack is supposed to move while jacking up the car. If you think about it, when the jack goes up, it needs to move forward and reposition itself every time you pump it up more because the angle changes.
