Investing Firms?

I just wanted to learn more about what investment firm is best. I'm sure a few of you guys invest so I'll take any advice I can get. I don't care if the economy is down right now.

you're going to have to expand your question.
i work for an investment advisor. are you looking for a broker or a custodian (where you self-direct)?

and "economy is down" is the exact time to be investing. the idea is buy low, sell high.

my personal advice is to read up on index mutual funds or etf's. the number one enemy of investing is fees. a broker is going to hit you up the wazoo with commissions and doesn't necessarily have a fidicuary duty. set it and forget it. keep adding to it with a consistent investment policy/model. no need to aim for the fences. base hits will do.

if you really feel you want something else and want to go to "professionals" and you've got $1mil in investable assets i'd recommend my firm as an investment advisor. i'm not sure how many people on the board that would really be. haha. otherwise PM me and i can recommend some smaller investment advisors.

Isn't Charles Schwab a pretty good way to escape the fees and commissions? I had bit of money I put into schwab a month ago but haven't researched where I want to put it to set.

schwab is nice if u get their active trading package, i think u have to make 120 trades before u get that suite of resources... live quotes, dashboards, etc. really useful. thats what i use.
