Just a warning. Something VERY similar to this happened to me. I bumped a girl going about 3 mph and my car was perfect, hers got a scratch in the bumper. She ended up claiming injury and managed to get a few thousand from my insurance company for injury, and a few thousand to repair her car despite the fact it only had a scratch!!!! I tried all I could to tell my insurance company what happened but somehow she got a ton of money out of them. This will end up hurting you badly if it happens since insurance companies rate the severity of accidents based on the amount of money paid out for an accident. So if this guy manages to get more than 1000 (for example) out of your insurance company, it will be considered a serious accident and you're insurance will go through the roof.

So, do whatever you can to make sure your insurance company doesn't give into this fool. Because you're the one who will get hurt if they do.

ilmaestro....that kinda happened to me...I switched insurance providers.

someone ran a red light...I t-boned the crap out of them. Totalled my truck. They split. Got a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.

I got a physics work up done...accident reconstruction...proved it wasn't my fault. They had all these pictures and stuff.....they got stuff fixed that had no damage from the accident...like a right rear wheel... I hit the left side of the car...in the middle of an intersection. They ended up squeezing the insurance company for $10k. for like...mabye $3500 in true damages. They got $1000 worth of car rental.

on top of that...the cops messed up with my statements and I ended up loosing my truck...I got no money for it. even though they ran a red light....were speeding. Were on some kind of drug/alcohol. and left the scene of the accident.

insurance companies suck...don't trust them...keep your own notes...keep on top of everything.

The advise of taking your own notes is a good one..

I had a wreck once that I got Tboned, the other guy blew a light, but it was my word against his, no witnesses.. We worked through the insurance companies and at one point they decided it was his fault and I'd be just fine etc.. etc... then the guy at my company left.. and aparently took my case with him... we had to start all over... all of a sudden, the other guy was pulling witnesses out of nowhere... of course all saying it was my fault etc.. Insurance still covered everything... but my rates DOUBLED.

Also, keep a sharp eye out for this dudes story to change over time....and make extra sure that your story stays consistent! I cant stress that enough.....

I had an accident in my truck one time....this gardener in a late 80's ford ranger decided to pull over to the right hand curb of a 2 lane road as if he was going to park....so I continue past him in my Chevy Tahoe (lifted 11"), and just as I am about to go past this moron, he decided he was gonna make an illegal u-turn from the right hand side of the road, across a double-double yellow line....I t-boned him, and smashed the crap outta his puny little truck with my big *** steel bumper, (less than $200 total damage to my truck, mainly from broken reflectors/lenses), and I wouldnt be surprised if that guy had to get a whole new bed for his truck. Anyways, the point is, when we were dealing with our insurance comps. this guy changed his story every single time he told it, my story stayed very consistant. Long story short, his insurance ended up denying this dumbasses claim (even HIS insurance company told me that his story has changed so much they are gonna deny him anyways, but they had to hear my story one more time.)

that said, keep your story straight, make sure your facts are correct and consistent, and as others have advised, stay on top of things...pics, notes, reports anything you can get your hands on...the more stuff you have, the better your chances are for making this jackass look like a big, stinky pile of doggy doo.

good luck!
