I think my clutch is slipping very very very badly. It started slipping around the time the weather got cold, but it was only occasional and not that bad. Now I cant floor the accelerator at all (note: I have a 1.8 L w/ 110hp) or it just spins and doesnt do anything... Scary sensation.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on clutch replacement, or if anyone knows if it might also be a loose clutch cable since my transmition is cable based.

 

what year is you car? how many miles on it? when was the last time you replaced the clutch?

 

95, ~112k miles, bought the car last year used from a subie dealership... no idea when it was replaced, so it could be the first and only clutch possibly.

 

Its getting worse and worse now... Every time I drive the car it smells like burnt.

 

You need a new clutch my friend.

 

Any tips for the cheapest route?
