Like I said, I drive the thing like its stolen. It lives at 3500 rpm on the freeway, I get on it and run her up to 6k every shift, I am not easy on it.

I use to have a VW that the motor had to come out every 10k for new pistons and sleeves. However to be fair it was a 2180 and running at the limit of size/strength.

I appreciate the offer - but have already started the process of the rebuild.

$9000 estimate later...

I'm right there with you. I was side ways at WOT when I clicked over 200k in this car. LOL!

$9k is on the high end, but pretty spot on.

The closed deck build I was thinking about doing was around 6-7k for parts alone....

I'll post up the estimate later. That is turn-key with Mann taking care of the R&R and full head rebuild

I have neither the space nor The time to deal with the R&R

I don't think I'm violating any secrecy so here's a copy of the estimate.

I've done a bunch of research, the engine stuff is pretty much as cheap as I've found it. Mann's labor rate is higher than some other shops, but they already know the situation and I'm sure after towing costs the savings by taking the car elsewhere would be minor if anything

Looks good to me. Just one note though. Don't use "regular" ARP head studs. They stretch and need to be re-torqued after 500 miles or so which is a no option for Subarus. Get ARP 625 or MAP H11 studs instead! I stretched "regular" ARPs while tracking (head lifting) under E85 torque levels.

I can e-mail or PM you my rebuild estimate from another builder if you're interested.
