I'm a former "ricer" hater, and I've come to learn that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Personally I don't like LED washers or Altezzas and you won't see them on my car. But then again my truck is brown with a poorly-executed JDM-look spraypainted black hood. And I'm sure people point and laugh at it as "rice" all the time but it was a fun and cheap project just like installing LED washers is, and it does nothing for the car but get laughs and maybe some other dude in a sorry-looking toyota knows what it's all about and secretly gives me props. Inspiration can come from strange places.

Long live the ghetto tuners.

I totally agree. Do what makes you happy. We should all respect those who love cars like we all do. However, this all still depends on your definition of "ricer". When I think "ricer", I think not only of a car, but of a mentality... the bad attitude. The guy who revs at every light, and peels out in parking lots when little kids are present. Those "ricers" are who I take issue with.

What offends me more than ricers is that a lot of the drivers in SF (mainly people who are not "car people") drive without paying any attention to other cars on the road or ESPECIALLY pedestrians. I'd rather have funny-looking cars on the road with good drivers than a bunch of nice-looking cars on the road with crappy dangerous drivers at the wheel.

^^ w3rd!

I've seen so many people almost run down by guys in E55's and the like because they were too busy on their cell phones in the middle of city traffic, and ofcourse looking at everything else except for the road directly in front of them.

You'd think that they might check the lane next to them before they change lanes, but no, since they have those mirrors that blink they assume that we'll be able to see that they're trying to change lanes, as well as be able to move out of the way in time for them to NOT slam in to us.

How did america end up like this? most other countries have better regular drivers than we do

i was just saying how annoying it is when the guys with LED washer lights and unpainted body kits tied on with zip ties try to race you all the time when none of their mods involve power and their cars have like 160 hp or something.

I try not to worry about proving manhood with my car. If somebody needs to pound their chest while sitting in their car and revving on me, I'll just give 'em the 'thumbs-up' and tell 'em, "hey, nice RACE car, man." Or, how about this: "I wish I could trade cars with you RIGHT NOW." If their girlfriend is with them, I can say, "you are SO lucky, young lady, to be sitting in that fine machine with yo' man!"

I don't think I'd waste energy getting upset or pissed off at kids displaying a little immaturity, though. Most of them will outgrow it by the time they reach their early 20s. I'd feel dumber if they actually got me to street race against them.

Not a bad idea... All I do is shake and twitch like crazy until they stop looking at me.

i dont know about that... at work there is two brothers in there late 30s (almost 40) and one drives a rsx (non typeS) with crome 17 inch cheap rims and a big whale tale unlowerd and the other drives a new mitsu. eclipes GT automatic with cheap crome rims, led washer lights, welded muffler, and a akimoto intake

both always brag around work about how there cars can beat me and how my car sounds like a VW bug so go figure....

i try to act mature about it all.. like yesterday i posted the 1/4 mile times for the eclipes GT (17.2) and posted it by the time clock

edgar,
proving stupied kids wrong is one thing but putting an old fart in his place never gets old... ha ha ha
