i dont like how almost everyone sends their car in to shops to get stuff installed(zoeb). its really not that hard guys.. and seriously it makes you closer to your car you will love your suby a lot more after you rip(take of carefully and gently) pieces off it and replace them with better stuff. and while ur down there you will learn something new about ur car EVERY time. and then you will learn how useless some of the crap is that people buy because it has nothing to do with power/handling. maybe im just a freak.

Oh God, I hate people who criticize others for taking their cars to shops. It is a rediculous way to think. Going to the shop means that if I have something installed and something goes wrong, I can bring it back to the shop. Certainly working on one's car themselves is great for experience, but there is NOTHING wrong with going to a shop...

I agree, just because you can doesn't mean everyone has the kind of coordination or confidance to mess with their own cars. I also agree that its definately good for the experience (i do stuff myself cuz i'm cheap) but for more difficult stuff i'd rather pay a little first than pay later for a mistake that i made.

Just because zoeb goes to a shop doesn't mean he just sits there without asking any questions right?........... At least last time he was making cartalk with everyone while we were all there.

But to creditcard "tuners" that get their cars worked on and know nothing about their own cars.

I agree with the cc tuners. People who take a car to some shop and say...what can I buy to make it faster, glow brighter, ride lower, wing higher? But I don't mind the ones who know what to get, just not the ability/time to install themselves.

Sometimes I take my car to a shop when I just don't have time to change a frikken timing belt. Sometimes I don't feel like changing a clutch for the 3rd time. I already know I can do it, and how much of a pita it is. *hondas*

There comes a point where you get burned out, and just want someone else to do it this time.

I just installed a stereo in my subaru...i'll never want to do it ever again...... ever....it must feel my squirrely wrath!

Subuarus are now almost the new honda civic as far as retarded lips and massive spoilers and ungodly decals. Does it make a difference that it is actually fast? No. There are dudes with lambos that could be considered ricers. I bet over 45% of i club is made of ricers.
In a way im not so stoked on owning one, because back the gc8 days, subaru was the performance underdog - now its just the new rice mobile. sad.
I still hope there are a few of us that are into the performance and design of it, not just the machosim.
Oh how I agree with you on this.

I believe that you are to a degree mistaking dress-up and aesthetics for rice, my friend
Also, the GC8 2.5RS was in NO WAY an underdog in comparison to non-Type R Integras, all models of Civics, all 240SX models, and most of the usual sport compacts of the day. Rather, the GC8 2.5RS was rare, that's all. You've mistaken the rarity of the 2.5RS back in the day for the performance of it; just because there weren't many people that bought them doesn't mean that they were slow. Rather, most of the Honda/Acura folks and what-not that I have and had spoken too have said that they never considered a Subaru becuase they thought Subaru's were for soccer moms and butch lesbians (some still say this even with the advent of the WRX and the STi Version). Thus, your claim that Subaru's are "macho" is way off as well.
I seriously suggest that you pay more attention to details and speak a bit more wisely in the future. It sounds almost as if you're just as bad as the ricers you claim are overrunning this board.

Oh, and I gotta agree with Seraph
I usually do what I can myself (oil changes, radiator flushes, exhaust and intake installation, etc.), but what I feel is out of my means or abilities I take to the shop to get done. While at the shop, I usually pay attention and try to learn all that I can so that hopefully in the future, I can do it myself (I mean hey, the first time I needed an oil change, I took it to the mechanic and watched how he did it. I learned from him, and after that I've been doing it myself ever since -- no shame in that).

Rice is way over used. Most people think everything that they don't like is Rice. You don't like graphics, so it's rice? You don't like carbon fiber, so it's rice? You don't like 18" wheels, so it's rice? Well, I have a newsflash for some of you dumbasses... SOME PEOPLE LIKE THE EARLIER MENTIONED ITEMS, thus putting them on their cars.

Rice was originally meant for unpainted body kits that were self-molded, etc... Just ghetto stuff.

If someone wants 20 inch wheels on their Sube, good for them! They like it, that's whats important... Who gives a rats *** about what anyone else says?

You think everyone likes my tall *** hair? Hell no they don't... do I care? Hell no I don't. Hell, they can call me a "ricer" for my hair... and see if I care.

Sorry, I had to rant. I'm getting tired of people calling everyone a damn ricer... just cuz you don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't any good. Someone wants to be original, and they get branded as a ricer. That's lame as hell.

Aloha NorCal I-Clubbers! I gotta agree with the above statement. It's the same here in Hawaii (and maybe just about everywhere else). As much as I would like to lay the smackdown, the voice of reason (wife) will just say "what are you going to do, they are just punks, leave them alone".

I was just sitting here going, "Damn is Daniel talking about his *** hair, what the hell?" Then I realized. lol

Ya, simply put ricer is a mentality of poor mods and unrealistic results.
