Wow, lol ~$300 difference between fixing it and getting ***-raped, or not fixing it and getting ***-raped. If I were in this situation I wouldn't bother, but then again that's if it was my car, seeing as how I can't just pop a couple things on to pass a state referee. It's been a few weeks since you posted this thread, I hope you got the stock pieces you need. Let us know what's up.

This is total BS. What if an officer cites a stock car??? Then you have prove your car is stock and have to pay for no reason??? That is not just.

Of course its not. CARB is a total scam and the people of CA did it to themselves.

I do not see how we "did this to ourselves" when the majority of these laws are put into effect without approval from the people (us).

dont put to much into what spoolin said.noticed how every other post is negative and or him complaining

fact is the whole c.a.r.b is really halfassed.laws are put in the works but the proper instructions on how to really inforce is not taught.chp is bad for this.the easiest ticket other than speeding is for exhaust.ive seen/signed off more tickets for imports than ALL other vehicles combined.
if carb and law makers really wanted to do this right they would first hold LE agencys accountable before allowing them to right tickets.i have and never will write a ticket for exhaust.

This happened to my dad a few years ago, he and his porsche were sent to the ref, totally legal, after an inspection the initial ticket was invalidated by the state ref and some paperwork was done, my dad got busted by the same police officer, a month later, who still diidn't understand that the car was legal, he called to make another appt with the ref and the ref told him not to come in, he would take care of it.

The state sent him a piece of paper to carry with his registration after he got busted the second time. He has never had to show the extra piece of paper to anyone, haha.

IDK if a judge dismissed the ticket, the ref did all the work on it.

It was established in 1967 under the Mulford-Carrell Act. I don't know the ins and outs of it, but I'd assume it was voted on. Probably seemed innocuous at the time, but look at what its turned into.

What I meant by 'us' is that CA likes 'feel good' stuff without giving it much thought beyond the pretty fluff of the bill. Things that are voter approved today will probably come back to haunt us in the near future and we won't quite understand how something like SF's composting law could extend to fines and this and that.

And I don't think anyone can argue against CARB being another money grabbing scheme.

ive hosted 1 class and been to 3 hosted by chp about "illegal"modifications.
every diagram, image and or example was an import.
when i asked the instructor about the blanket exhaust noise citation his examples were of hondas and nissans.i asked about trucks with flowmasters and vettes with race pipes and was informed that is different since hondas are louder and more annoying.
the local FF chp brand has their own harley riders who all have some of the loudest systems ive ever heard yet brag about pulling over imports.

Nick, I never got back to you!! Which makes me an *******. I do have a stock exhaust, u can swoop it anytime (need it back when done). Id call u, but i got my hands full at work.

Also, when is ur smog ref due date?
If its in 3 months, i'd wait a little bit, budget cuts might bring the BAR to its knees again, which I took full advantage of last year, and got out of my ticket scott free.

anyways, lets kick it dude, i dont have a girlfriend anymore
i need some love, manly brotherly subaru dude love.

Fix it - any officer can sign off upon proof of correction.
State Ref - no officer sign off, you have to go to the state ref.

If you bring your ref/proof of correction to the court there is a chance you can get the 'fix it' fine instead of the *** reaming state ref fine.
