Someone at homeland security must have been burned by a skyline. Only thing I can think of.
What a waste of time/money blah blah blah....government. Wish you the best of luck on sorting this out.

Homeland Security is theater security, and since they can't do that well, they are trying to show how they are protecting Americans from dangerous Skylines. We, the tax payers, get to write the check for it...

Update....
Hey i-club community, things are getting really interesting and I thought I would open up to this thread on some of the recent events. it's only been over a year....
As some of you know, I had the R32 at AHQ in Redwood City and after going back and forth about selling it or keeping it, I decided to sell it. I sold it to a local guy in the South Bay....or so I thought. When the car went to be delivered, he didn't have the full funds so we nix'd the deal and I kept his deposit. And at the same time, I found a shop that could also do the work to restore the R32.
So instead of selling it, I kept it and it was on it's way to being rebuilt. The car is up and running but it needs a lot of work. And as a result, I bought the last remaining R34 rb26 motor and 6-speed getrag tranny in North America to put in the R32. Doing this transplant has been done before but requires some special people to do it. I've been consulting with Sean Morris of Stillen in SoCal and he's been a tremendous help. However, I may not need the R34 motor as I went with a rebello race motor and special fuel pump. the plan is to also go with full Stoptech's, new coilovers and revamping the entire wiring and restoring the vehicle - going to be costly. Oh and after all these months, I have the bond release letter from the US DOT and NHTSA certifying the vehicle is legit for US usage (just not in CA). I have the means and ability to reg in another state, obtain an out of state license and eventually, drive this on public roads anywhere.
Fast forward to yesterday - I was presented with a proposal which is an amazing opportunity. Maybe you all can help me decide....
Through a contact of mine, I was given an opportunity to trade my R32 in current condition and investment in labor but I get to keep all the spares except tranny (i.e. motor, brembo GT kit, extra wheels and tires) for their 1999 R34 plus about 15k cash, which is fully restored and ready to rock - it starts right up and I can go to the track next week. but the caveat is that it is a vehicle that has not been brought in to the US legally and will be confiscated/crushed if ever driven on public roads and caught. It is however in the process of being legalized though the US DOT but this can take 4 or 5, or more years to be approved (if ever).
Driving on the street is not important to me as my original plan was to drive on the track whenever I could and possibly sell this thing one day (maybe).
Dilemma - is the R32 with the planned investment upgrades and legal drive-ability worth more than a pristine R34+15k ?
I'm almost leaning towards the R32 and investing the 10-15k to get it up and running, but then I'll miss my chance at owning the legendary 34. I've truly been blessed and this is a great opportunity for me but wow....

R34 just because it's my favorite car of all time and 15k. Then again you'll always be on the look out. Really comes down to if you don't mind worrying all the time. I'd hop on the R34 just to own something rare and exclusive that not even the feds want you to have

KEEP THE R32!!!! IMHO.. Your legal and not out of the pocket 15k. that 15k can be invested into your "legal" car and made to be one sick beast. trade it and your out 15k and now not "legal". Even if your plan is to track it having the ability/option to legally drive it on the street to me is worth passing up on the R34. again this is just my opinion.
