alright people its gonna be a long one sit back and read....its a good story! ok so my friend calls me up says he's bored, he suggests we go out and hunt 4 some mustangs, and he'll record....i say i'm gonna get gas then go to to his house.....i pick him up, we drive up and down capitol expy. 4 like 45 min and get nothin....we manage to mess around with a nissan sentra seR and a 5.0.....but it was no fun! so were driving keeping r eyes open for those stangs. finally i spot a black gt waiting to make a u-turn....i pull up behind him and start revving.....the 3 guys in it look back....light turns green and they make the u-turn and slow down to 25 mph.....i was in 2nd gear and pulled up next to them...they take off i punch it and go nowhere i had no boost at 25 mph and i couldn't drop to 1st....i caught up and the guy in the passenger side had his hand out the window and was yelling ..." b!tch over and over.....me and my friend were yelling " lets get a light" we make a u-turn and this time i leave it in 1st.....they take off and so did I.....i immediately pull in front and stay there....i pull like 3 cars in front of them and hit my hazards to get them a lil more mad...haha.....but that race was off a roll....we pull up to a light and the guy is still yelling b!tch.......light turns green i get a horrible launch and bog....they pull in front ....i thought to myself..." damn i lost" but when i shift to 2nd i hella jumped in front of them....the passenger finally shuts up and has a puzzled look on his face...haha.....we stop and he says "follow us" i said "y" he says " we got a camaro at home, race it" my friend says" ok go get it, and come back on capitol we'll be driving around, passenger says" just be at jack in the box at 9:30....i said ok and drove off.....we drove around and came to jack in the box at 9:35....when we pulled up they had a whole crew there....5 cars...a corvette, mustang that i smoked, 2 trucks, and another mustang....they were all ready with their cameras and everything.....the guy says i'll be back in 5 min...i live around the corner...so we wait...i hear a loud @$$ noise pulling up, he pulls up in a red z28, with a huge black hood scoop that looks more like a nose. i have to admit i got a lil scared....my friend recognized the car and said he was hella fast......i wasn't gonna backdown....i knew i was gonna lose but i still went....we drive out and his crew follows....we get a light right away ..... i don't know how but when the light turned green he jumped on me...i guess my timing was off.....i pull side by side with him and stay there the whole time.....we get another light and he jumps on me again.......this time on 3rd i manage to get the nose of my car in front of him...then he lets off....we drive back into jack in the box....and he starts makin excuses...he's like i'm only runnin on 7 cylinders, i'm a v7....then my friend says its ok were only ridin on 4....haha.....they were all shocked...they had to get a back up car...and the back up car didn't work.....what an embarassment.....i only took this guy by inches though.....but i still won...the best thing is we got it all on film...my friend is gonna try and post it up real soon. but the moral of the story is ...i didn't know my rex could take z28's lol...ok u can leave now!

You my friend, are about as sharp as a bowl of jello. I know you THINK that you have control over your car but I highly doubt you've spent much time practicing high performance driving in an environment where it is safe to take your car to the edge to learn what happens when you do lose control. You also probably THINK that you have control over your surroundings but you do not. What if the other driver is violent? What if they don't like losing and decide to "show you" with something like a 38 special? I suppose you're thinking to yourself that you're actually safe and aren't endangering anyone. Most pedestrians aren't wearing safety orange you know and FYI the excuse "I'm sorry, we looked first and there was nobody around but we just didn't see him" doesn't work very well after you've murdered someone.

If you'd like to drive your car fast, you're lucky to live in the Bay Area as there are several safe and controlled venues for you to do so and the members of this community would be more than happy in helping to get you started.

I hate sounding preachy and I know this message will probably fall upon completely deaf ears and blind eyes (this message is probably a total waste of bandwidth) but on the off chance it actually gets you to consider your actions even slightly then maybe I may have a positive impact on someone's life.

I can't tell you how to live your life however, what I pointed out was not an opinion. You are NOT in control of your environment (if you can telepathically control people and animals, and have the ability to levitate solid objects with your mind then we should talk as I can make you some serious money). You DON'T know what is going to happen. Unless you personally know the individual you are racing you DON'T know if they are whacked out on crack. Those are all undisputable facts.

Are you trained in performance driving (and no, "I've done a lot of street racing" doesn't count)? Have you spent time on the track ("I went to the track once or twice" doesn't count)? Have you spent time autocrossing? Have gone to a performance driving school? Have the individuals you are racing done any of these things? Is your car properly maintained? Is your opponents car properly maintained? Are you running the correct tire pressures or are you just racing with the same tire pressures that you use for daily driving (that right there would be an indicator of your inexperience)?

If you screw up on the street you'll most likely end up hitting something and it will probably be relatively unforgiving like a concrete curb and you'll cause significant damage to your car or even worse, you'll get injurred. On a track if you screw up you may still damage your car but it's unlikely that you'll be much of a threat to anyone else and you'll probably just end up in the runoff and need a tow if it's deep enough. On an auto cross course if you screw up you hit a small orange traffic cone. Big deal, my car and I have both devoured our fair share of friendly orange traffic cones.

Neither Andy or I said anything about hating. I certainly don't hate the guy and if he asked me about autocrossing I'd PERSONALLY help him get involved. In fact, show up at Candlestick this Sunday and I'll take you for a spin on my first run. I guarantee you it is far more fun than stepping on a gas pedal and going in a straight line (not that opening her up isn't a lot of fun). The issue is safety. This guy is clearly not mature enough to handle the responsibility to own a car that performs like the WRX does. His attitude in his post clearly exemplifies that. When you get behind the wheel of a car you have a RESPONSIBILITY drive safely.

Sorry... while I'm on a rant and roll and have your attention I just wanted to answer your question. The both of us are individuals who have to share the road with this guy and we're concerned for the safety of our family, friends, and loved ones. Cars are every bit as lethal as guns, even more so as individuals like trickster aren't aware of their lethal capabilities.
