If you cant afford the stuff you WANT but not NEED for your ride, maybe go with a new job or a different car... Basically you get what you pay for, cheap=more expensive in the long run and expensive=quality to last.. Of course from your thread you're looking for cheap, you have a kickass suby and you want to load it up on bargain parts, it doesnt make sense. Just buck up and get a TurboXS, Perrin or Blitz FMIC.

Yes, so over time the Turbo is more likely to wear down and get damaged where as the intercooler will stay in good shape and the piping will never wear out, thus the selling price is closer to retail. That's like saying I wonder why tires don't resell for close to retail when used compared to an intercooler. it just comes down to the condition of the part and the intercooler is likely to be in great shape.
he forgets to mention that the intercooler was on my car first for about 1.5 years, and i drove my car like a bat outta hell the whole time...

oh and another thing, he's not complaining cause i was one of those lazy sellers and sold him my fmic + bumper w/ v2 sti lip for a super fken steal

I'd tell you the price, but you're cheap.
If they are so easy to sell used for more than $500 what would be the point of digging up this old thread?

1. Blue Blurr - Best quote ever. "cars are expensive. Deal with it"

2. I have installed probably 10 fmics for friends, including 4 of them which were ebay, and 2 different kinds of ebay fmics. Only one of the ebay fmics were broken out of the box, it had a dent in the core. We called up SSAutochrome and asked for new core - they shipped it to us no questions asked and we continued the next week to finish the install.

3. Are you complaining that FMIC in GENERAL is expensive, or just FMIC for SUBARU. Because FMICs go for 6-800 for other cars, and when you factor in the MAF pipe, bumper beam, and additional piping - piping for other cars might retail for ~300 by themselves as well. In fact the retrofit piping for the UR GT30/35R kits ccosts 300. So figure that additional hardware you get, 1000-1300 is not unreasonable for an FMIC.

4. See 1. You realize a catback for a Viper costs $2500. Besides Hondas, EVOs , Subarus are among the cheapest cars to mod because they are mass produced. There are few other imports on the planet save STI and EVO/DSM where you only need a few thousand bucks to get you 500hp. Cheapest cars to mod ever!

5. Finally, and most importantly, a person shouldn't be buying $25k - $35k cars like the WRX, STI, if their monthly cashflow is less than a couple thousand dollars. Why the hell would someone even consider modifying a car, an act which COULD BLOW THE ENGINE COSTING $3000 TO FIX, or blow the tranny costing $2000 to fix, if they trip up over a few hundred bucks in price difference?

To quote Carlos Mencia "Dee Dee Dee!" Really, no offense but COME ON it's only a few hundred bucks. $300-500 bucks is like what a tuner charges you to just TUNE your car.

And

6. Are you making more than 400hp? If no, you don't need an fmic. Wrap yo da.mn turb0 and d0wnpipe. If you installed a big TMIC and then threw away the splitter, your TMIC was a waste of money
