How much Differential fluid do I need?

How much Differential fluid do I need?

Well it's comming upon 50k+ miles and I'm finally deciding to change my differential fluid, I looked all over the owners manual and couldnt find anything about how much I needed =( ... Can any one please help me and let me know how much I need.

You drain it from the bottom plug and fill up from the top one until it starts coming out.

I cannot tell you how much ~ you need, since you did not specify which Impreza you drive.

If you get 2 quarts, you should be fine. Just fill it up until it starts dripping out.

make sure you CAN remove the FILL plug BEFORE you remove the DRAIN plug...

Oh yeah, haha, those suckers tend to be uber hard to take out.

Tip 2: Make sure not to overtighten the plus. They are pipe thread and you will crack the aluminum cover if you tighten them too much.

the rear differential on the WRX uses a little less than 1 quart of oil... .8 to be more precise

easiest way to remove the two plugs on the rear diff... is to use the scissor jack... put your breaker bar on into the rear diff plugs... ( add tape around the breaker bar to make it sit in the plugs snug ( credit : pork )

then jack up the scissor jack until the plugs break... its easy..
