How do I remove this ^%*%(& BOLT???

Finally getting around to installing the hitch on my wagon.

This ONE friggin bolt for the drivers side tie down bracket will not come off

It's about halfway out and just spins now.

I'm kind of afraid that the welded on nut or whatever Subaru put inside the frame broke and it's just spinning. Am I gonna have to cut it off and then who knows what?

HALP!

Maybe try having a 2nd person use a prybar on it while you back it out with your wrench.

Rotozip FTW. Bolt head is off.

There's no way to get the rest of the bolt out of the frame though. I guess what I figured happened is what did happen. The welded nut or whatever it is inside the frame broke loose.

So I need a new bolt AND a way to secure it to the frame again.

Is it just spinning freely and not pulling out? You may have cracked the welds or pulled the threads.

It was spinning freely. Pretty sure the welded nut inside the frame broke off.

The ***** of it is the hitch doesn't even use that bolt

So now I have a hole there that's not used and can't have a bolt put back in it. Guess I'll look for a rubber frame plug or something at Lowes

You can gain access to the nut through the top of the frame rail...in the trunk.

Thanks. I'll do that to put the new one in.

Now I need to find some longer exhaust hangers local to Livermore ASAP. The hitch won't fit with the stock ones :duh:

Success!

Still need some Kartboy hangers, the hitch is touching the exhaust just slightly
