Bad day indeed, also the CEL is throwing a P703 code. (Transmission issue) not sure what to do as i am unemployed searching for jobs left and right.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I can only imagine the feeling.

Just out of curiosity, what brand of motor oil were you using?

I'm also curious, if you don't mind answering:
How many miles since your last oil change?
Was there adequate oil remaining?
Were you driving aggressively?

Trying to see if there's any commonality with all the other spun bearing incidents. Sorry to hear for your troubles though.

It's really not that horrible. You've got the most common Subaru engine failure. I find it very odd that an N/A motor spun a bearing at all. Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like negligence, another common cause of engine failure. What did your last major service entail. Where was it performed? Was it performed?

Thing is i was over about 2k miles on oil change. I've been busy doing job hunts all month while my girlfriend was visiting from Singapore, but there was oil in the engine when it happened.

oil change would be considered minor service. Oil in the engine does not mean it was at a proper level. Heavy corner loading has been known to cause oil pump starvation. What frequency would you typically conduct an oil/filter change? 500/700 over ok. 2k over not too good. Especially if you don't regularly check your level. Hell a turbo car can blow through a few quarts in a single track day. This would be considered normal consumption. Generally after 3K most see consumption of 1.5 quarts which again would be considered normal.
