Horriable day today as my engine blown.
Just venting my stress but as i went to Next Stage Garage to get my CEL checked my engine spun a rod bearing and is now clunking and clanking all over the powerband.
Options: Searching a 04 2.5RS engine or doing a tear down and overhaul and rebuild. (Not looking to swap to a EJ257 due to car being an automatic and also don't want to deal with SMOG testes when they are needed)
Bad day indeed, also the CEL is throwing a P703 code. (Transmission issue) not sure what to do as i am unemployed searching for jobs left and right.

To the OP, believe it or not the smog places could care less what motor you have in the car. As long as it passes smog, its fine. The newer the motor the better, in terms of year of the vehicle. I would personally do a swap at least to a WRX 2.0 motor or a 2.5 if you got the time and money.

IC thanks currently i don't have either until i get a call back from the places i applied to. Another reason i ask is because my friend has a 96 Accord and his car failed due to being a "Modified" transmission from an Auto to a Manual.
It will be cheaper if you are going to do the work yourself, but it also depends if there are unforeseen internal damages that might need replacing. Were you up to date with all tune ups and major tune up? Best of luck to you.
