Talking Hooray! My Seibon CF trunk came in today!

My Seibon CF trunk came in today. Just thought I'd share the good news. Total cost was $526 to my door. Now I just gotta install it this weekend.

Hooray!

Could you weigh the original trunk shell once its stripped of all the brackets? I would like to know how much weight one can save by upgrading to a carbon fiber trunk shell.

It's not dry carbon, it's wet carbon. If I had around $1200 to spend on a trunk I would have went with the dry carbon. I think the next thing I'm gonna do is get the CF driveshaft, I've heard nothing but good things about the CF drive shaft

Here are some pics:

Installed my CF trunk today. Fit is nice. I just wish seibon would have designed the trunk to re-use the stock hardware. I had to go to Osh to pick up some bolts that fit. Other than that the trunk looks awesome.

For the one person that asked, the stock trunk weighed in at 27 lbs. THE CF wet carbon trunk weighs less. I forgot to weigh the CF trunk before I put it on but I would guess that it weighs about 12-15 lbs. Seibon has the dry carbon trunk listed at 3.2 kg (~8lbs)

Some pics of the install

Just so you know, there's no difference between properly laid up CF vs. prepreg (IE Dry carbon) CF

In fact, prepreg CF has a shelf life - it's very expensive and the only cheap source is buying nearly expired aerospace owned CF, so it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the so-called dry carbon was expired when it was laid up.

I was thinking about a CF hood now, but if I were to get one I rather get an OEM looking one. I don't like the grills in that hood. Good luck with your sale.
